IMO he was also always just better at longer but shallower asphalt climbs than steep, more explosive cobbled climbs.

He once went away with Pedersen and VdP over the Kemmelberg and came like 7th in Dwars having attacked ten times for no reason.

But even if that's true, he has gotten a lot worse over those types of climbs too. I think in 2024 he was significantly more hardy than Merlier and now? I'm not sure to be honest.
