What a summer for this young guy. Played it perfectly to stay on Woods’ wheel.

Vansevenant made this compelling down the stretch. Happy he seemed unscathed by the crash. Hirschi a fabulous ride. What a great season he is having. Chapeau.

Porte moved up from the back to the front, attacked too early and still finished top-10.

Either he is in super form, or everyone dawdled for the first half.

Dan Martin was also way too far back and finished well. To be fair when Porte was done there were only 11-12 guys still close to him.

The level of the ‘also-rans’ was lower this year due to the obviously loaded schedule.

Anybody saw the odds for Hirschi?? I need to start finding a site who provides bets for cycling.

7 to 1. He was pretty much tied with Pogacar and Kwiatkowski.

Hirschi was already a beast last year, 3rd in Donostia/San Sebastian and 10th in E3 in his first season as a pro.
The only thing was that he got overshadowed by Pogi and Remco, in a normal season he would have been the most impressive neopro .

Hirschi was the out-and-out favourite. Something like odd 4.5.

He should probably ride the Vuelta but his season is done after Liege.

Barguil - not too bad. Probably better suited to something like this than to GC racing.

Vansevenant has superstar potential and it's nice to see Hirschi and Cosnefroy confirming their classics ability, but the race itself was pretty meh. And that new climb is followed by roads that make it easy for an organized chase.
