Ayuso, Almeida DNF because they both go down arguing with each other

I see three ways that could play out:

1. They get so focused on arguing, they don't focus on where they're going, and crash out.
B. They get so focused on arguing, they get dropped on a random motorway bridge; Gianetti pulls them from the race.
III. They actually get in a fist-fight on the bikes; UCI officials throws them out of the race.

I think Gall can surprise and get on the podium here. I know he wasn't good at the Vuelta last year but then again his entire 2024 season wasn't great and he's in much better form this year. The route suits him and it seems like he has full team support for GC. But I can also imagine that an unexpected name (Hindley, Riccitello etc.) ends up on the podium.

I am pretty confident in Vingegaard as winner and Almeida as runner-up. For third place I see a lot of contenders. Based on potential one would think Ayuso should take it easily. However, he has gotten into a rather long streak of disappointments. I go with Gall, he finished the Tour really strong so I think he will be in good shape for the Vuelta.
If I had to choose with my heart, I would pick Bernal, I want to see him return to the elite, he is getting closer year-by-year, his 7th place in the Giro was great, and the prep wasn’t optimal. However, I think the Giro also suits him better, and two GT in one year is always difficult.
Ciccone on the podium would also make me happy, this year he has become one of my favorite riders, I am still a little sceptical about the GC potential though.
Pellizzari is an interesting joker, huge potential, but maybe GC in two grand tours in a season is a bit too early for him.

Who is your third pick? Landa?

I cannot change Carapace, best I can do is to remind those who voted for him to change their vote.
Wasn't really thinking about a third, I'm not particularly confident about anyone. I think Kuss is an underrated sleeper, I hope Hindley does well but I've got no particular reason to think he'll top 5 or podium. I guess the UAE duo should be #2 and #3rd favorite in general, but I find them pretty overindexed in general.

1. Vingegaard
2. Ayuso
3. Ciccone

A top level Vingegaard wins this race by over 5 minutes but I think it might be closer than that as he hasn't always come out of the Tour in top shape. It will be a battle to see who emerges as UAEs main GC threat and on home soil I'd favour Ayuso although I'd prefer Almeida. Behind Visma and UAE the 3rd podium spot looks open for about 5/6 other riders and I'd go with Ciccone as he has looked in good form in recent weeks.
