I wonder why Smulders and Baker haven't dropped back to G2. Baker only has a slight chance of winning the stage, and unless García is sick, I can't see Smulders finish higher than her in GC. Gutiérrez being in G1 makes no sense either.

What. Baker is the second fastest sprinter in that group and would have won stage 2 if not brought down in the crash by the EF rider.

It was so predictable that Faulkner would attack the group and SD Worx had no reason to chase because they were never going to win the sprint - A couple of teams with unforgiveable tactics in the final.

I still think it was a questionable call to go for a stage win rather than fully back García's GC hopes. That said, getting a stage win is probably worth more than a small chance of getting top 5 overall.

Why wouldn't she have had any? If Vollering doesn't hit her best level, Realini could have won (provided she reaches her own best level, of course)

Let's hope NFB doesn't crash out of the group this time around.

That could apply to any rider in the race from the top teams though. I thought she was there for stage wins, not as a GC contender.

And I was surprised ELB said Trek would ride to protect her today for GC. Maybe Van Dijks loss impacted that but 2mins11 back now

Feels like Liane Lippert is the new Elisa Longo Borghini in these stage races - Elisa used to never get the Giro results her capability said she would because there'd always be one stage where she'd eliminate herself from contention in the most benign or unexpected way, and Liane just seems to always have one stage that costs her, no matter how good her form is elsewhere in the race.

Not that she was likely to be a major GC candidate here in her first race back from injury and considering Movistar have taken more falls than a 1980s wrestling jobber in the last three days, but it's also starting to become a trend of getting caught out in crosswinds that she'll need to iron out if she is to amass the results commensurate with her talent.

Baril's GC chances suffered as well. She's of course a worse climber than Lippert, but a top 10 would have been a possibility if she had made the split.
