I assume all the Trek riders pulled, but some of the other teams are lot more unbalanced and unexperienced.

According to the rule, race organisers are not allowed to issue leaders' jerseys that would clash with a participating team in any event other than the GTs, and that obviously hasn't been followed.

Cofidis sponsoring Unipublic events probably plays a role in them not being subject to that rule.

Team Picnic highlighted some of their riders have never ridden TTT before, I just don't think riders train for it anymore because it's so rarely used now in stage races or at WCs so they're complete novices in many respects at it. Whilst Trek have a couple of specialist TT riders in the mix so yep that's the result
