Floyd Manzano you rock. You are my favorite poster. Lance will still kick booty in the tour this year. I heard some rumors about Lance in the back alleys of the ToC down by the beach flats area. One was he came out of retirement to get that 1 more tour to put the record out of reach of Alberto....

Well, folks I'd like to hear from my Hugh Januss and all the others, do you guys think Lance will be riding in the Tour?

I'm more than a little upset you didn't mention me. Have you not been to the beer thread?? It's the 'Manchester United' of this forum... WTF does a guy have to do to get some attention around here?

.....Of course we need to put that record out of reach, just a shame about the other massive glaring holes in LA's palmares, Giro's, Vuelta's, a raft of classics. Pity at the end of his career the rampant sychophants are still clinging on to that last twig of hope that he might sneak his way to 8... I pray nightly that they find him out and that 7 become nil, zip, nada that would be just deserts not just for LA but for the sychophants and TWF's as well

WRT Lance and his performance, I attribute it to the time he had taken off. Losing that fine edge of the upper limit of performance does occur, and to me, it happens when the time off, and this does not factor age at all.

Hmmm, well isn't Basso in 2010 on his second year back at the top level after returning from time off...and he just won the Giro.

Anyway, Lance = 44th or whatev in TourSuisse prologue. The trend continues. Let's see where he stands on GC after the final stage.

Geez, for a guy who won 7 Tours in a row, I'd really like to see at least one performance in 2010 that is remotely halfway decent.

Can't Lance use his massive strength of will and physical talent to at least put in ONE decent ride (regardless of his recent "setbacks"/lack of condition)??

Okay, 2nd GC TourSuisse. I guess I really am just a know-nothing seminiferous tubloidial buttnoid.

I have to assume this is a clean performance. Why on Earth would Lance dope now? He's got all the money, palmares is great (although not Merckx-ish caliber).

What would be the reward for the risk of doping? Even more goodies and accolades?

However, I think it's entirely possible he's juiced up. One thing the last few years have certainly shown, is how little has changed. Now more dopers are caught, but the doping amount is similar. Perhaps the peloton is 15% cleaner, certainly not more than that.

BTW, I think it's certainly within the realm of human possibility that Lance won 7 Tours in a row clean. It's just incredibly unlikely that was the case.

I appreciate the posts about corruption in the UCI and the possible protecting of very big name riders.

This may very well be true. I also believe it's possible Lance has received doping help from sources in the highest levels in the USA who are interested in his status as big, international American role model and celebrity who presents the USA in a positive light and as "the best in the world".

Just like I personally believe Menchov is doped to the gills but never gets caught because he is Russia's current "banner" or "marquee" rider. These are totalitarian societies for whom masquerade is the only game in town and duplicity is the common currency. To think the USA is somehow different is the height of foolish naievete.

LA was never a GT rider so to finish second is a major achievement, where did cancellara/Gilbert/Boonen finish...

he's 38, how is he gonna keep up and finished second on GT in race with alpine stages without the juice?

the evidence before EPO shows that guys like LA were not GT riders and would never be able to achieve top 5 GC finish at the end of 3 weeks hard racing, but the guy wins 7 in a row...PEDs

hopefully this will all be exposed with the investigations that are currently underway...

I believe it is happening just like Carl Lewis who was caught doping, but never exposed..LA has the same thing going on....people in the sport see him as to big a fisht o reel in as it would damage them and the sport in its current manifestations and they cant have that.

Second in the TdS good enough for you?

By the way perhaps you should apply your superior logic to Andy Schleck who really HAS done nothing this season. I take it that you are not expecting him to feature in the Tour either? I won't even bother discussing Denny Menchov.

Also, doping or no doping, I think that LA knows a little more than you do on what is required to be in his best shape for the Tour. Whether that 'best shape' will be good enough or not remains to be seen.

On another subject, what's happened to your beloved Spartacus's 'motor' lately? Is he now TM's biatch?

EDIT: to mollify the mods for posting 'off topic', it's clear what old dog Lance has been up to riding around the Alpe Maritime. Is Lance courting disaster for the Tour? He is virtually inviting the Gendarmerie to raid his hotel this year. If he starts thats is.

Mr Anonymous and yet overall 2nd.

Says more about this race than anything to do with form.

And his helpers totally beat him in the TT, despite him taking chances on the downhill, as CN reports.
WHY would he be faster than his helpers, come 2 weeks?

Hammer, meet nail...

Aye.

Nothing standout in the whole of the event.

Climbers win the climbing days. TT'ers take the specific stages...

More like not having a bad day. If anything it does show RS has a solid team as matter of support and acumen.

Fschleck staying within a minute of Tony Martin is not even such a notable thing as the TT was half uphill.

If anything, it was a moderately boring event.

Now, just awaiting some earth-tilting fireworks to go with, as Lance calls it, the "nonsense" in the media.

What are you guys smoking? LA will ride Le Tour, period. He has to or he won't get his free iPhone4!

Plus, the Schleck Bros aren't going to announce the moving to The Shack until after the Tour when, with the help of The Shack against Astana, Andy wins the Tour. (or maybe I should have put this in the Crazy Predictions thread?)

Lets wait and see. Why will Andy be faster than the half the sprinters? He hasn't been yet.

Any more comments like that about Spartacus and you will be terminated. He has two motors, his right leg and his left leg and he will be using them to kick *** for many years to come!

How many of the GC contenders on other teams have shown better form? Certainly not Andy, not Menchov, not Sastre. not Wiggins, not Van der Velde, not Sanchez. Basso and Evans are unknown quantities depending on their recovery from the Giro. The only two showing form over the last two weeks are Frank and AC.

Most objective commentators who saw the Queen stage felt LA was riding strongly. The race was pure training, nothing more. Just as the Dauphine was for AC.

He rode with a hematocrit of 65 and had his heart replaced with a screw pump. Armstrong had to make do with 49.5.

HEY.

I'm pretty famous to I think that you should have mentioned me a bit, more than Scott anyway. I like Lance a lot, I think you should start more Lance threads cos this forum is full of hateboys (thats what they call themselves) who just havnt got the LIVESTRONG message yet. I also like moosies and kitties but not as much as Phil and Paul talking about the gratest cyclyst of all time. Lance battled university in all aspects of his life, he deserves or respect and admiration as he battles his way throught the rest of the Full House cast.

HOPE RIDES AGAIN.

The new game is called "make the hateboys look stupid"

Lance fakes being fat, slow, old and tanks in races. Come July he smokes everyone and wins buy ten minutes.

Points are scored for every hate boy that that stops using their cyclingnews forums account after the tour de lance.
