Really gutted to see Argos Shimano struggling to get a WT spot for next season i was really really looking forward to seeing how Degenkolb would do in the sprints.

Also wouldn't be great if Saxo didn't get a spot either i know Contador has ALOT of fans and we all know how he can make particular races exciting aswell.

Theres certainly alot more teams i'd like to see struggling to gain a license than these 2 teams.

how can anyone be a fan of argos. that team is just b-sprinter city (greipel and cavendish are only a sprinters)

besides I need sprinters as much as I need a chronical diseases. I hope saxo gets it and argos won't be invited to any gt. their tour was horrendous

what talents do they have then(general question)? the team is a joke and in every mountainstage every rider finishes in the bus

well even tho i think ryo takes his view a bit too far, in general i agree with him.

argos is a completely one dimensional team which is only better then saxo at 1 thing, sprints. other then that saxo has better GT riders (not hard as argos doesn't even has 1) better hilly classics riders (argos has the same amount of these as they have GT riders) and they are about even on cobbles riders if breschel is healthy.

so i don't think it should even be up to discussion who get's the wt spot. besides argos will surely be invited for the tour, the vuelta, PN, romandie, dauphine, eneco, pologne, MSR, RVV and PR, hell they may even get invited to the ardennes where we will be lucky if we manage to spot one of their riders for the entire week, so there is no need to have them sending c teams that will do nothing to races like T-A, VaC, VaPV and the giro.

It is pathetic that teams doesn't known whether they belong to the WT or not at this point in year.

Broken system.

That is the first big test for UCI to show whether their anti-doping policy is on or it is purely declarative. IMO, SaxoBank will get a lisence as Riis has too many offstage connections. Though, even if the manager is kicked out of the sport, Contador will easily go to Movistar.

Saxo were better on paper this season as well. However, in the actual races they simply sucked. And to solve that problem they signed some riders who are great on paper, but also sucked (Breschel, Bennati, Kreuziger). For next year I'd definitely expect more in the classics from Degenkolb than Breschel/Bennati.

That leaves a choice between one of the best stage racing teams (built around Contador) vs. one of the best sprinting teams (built around Kittel/Degenkolb). It's a cr.pshoot.

if SAXO get the WT license = no changes in the system, just hypocrisy again, and again

and the truth is: Saxo does not have enough WT point (before the new guys arrives)
and yes, this point system s_cks

Fortunately the article is bull****...

Nevertheless, it shows the failure of the system and its non-correspondence with its goal (getting the best riders/teams in the most important races).

System exists to further the corruption and take of the UCI, Id suggest the decision is already made depending on who sends Pat the biggest cheque!

on paper and on the road saxo were very average last season without contador. the moment he was banned every knew the team had nothing to offer.

breschel is a risk because he gets injured a lot but if he reaches his 2010 form he would be an outside bet for the ronde and MSR, and let's not pretend like degenkolb didn't finish 63rd 15 minutes down in roubaix this year so him performing at top level on the cobbles is far from a guaranteed situation.

kreuziger's season wasn't crap. . . . it was better then in 2011 CQ wise actually, he just happened to crack so badly at the giro that people only remember that from his season. he hasn't been the same rider as he was a couple seasons ago for a while now but he is still caplable to get a good results on 1 week races and GT's.

bennati and zaug were only hired for their points and roche is massively overrated imo so those 3 will only be domestiques, but a guy like majka is a very interesting talent.

and then ofc we can't forget contador who will very likely win one or two (or more) 1 week races and a GT, so even tho his points don't count, the fact that he is there racing still matters.

Leopard Trek had no points at all before the new guys arrived. Whats your point. ;)

Let's not forget that Roubaix is a race notorious for its crashes... which is what happened to Degenkolb this season. Last year, in his first pro year, he was 19th.

kreuziger's season wasn't crap. . . . it was better then in 2011 CQ wise actually, he just happened to crack so badly at the giro that people only remember that from his season. he hasn't been the same rider as he was a couple seasons ago for a while now but he is still caplable to get a good results on 1 week races and GT's.
Kreuziger isn't bad indeed, and I'm sure Riis can get the best out of him... but that's on paper, like I said.

bennati and zaug were only hired for their points and roche is massively overrated imo so those 3 will only be domestiques, but a guy like majka is a very interesting talent.
For every Majka there's a Barguil over at Argos...

Of course Contador matters. He alone should guarantee them a WT spot. But Argos getting the spot wouldn't be as ridiculous as you would have us believe.

yeah with contador in it they were and showed they were (winning vuelta)

Nah, 5 man teams and you get scenario's where nobodies can win because no one can control the race.
Or where race favourites will have to open up earlier to eliminate nobodies from the win ;) Perhaps riders won't wait for Roche aux Faucons before making a move in L-B-L :)
