Muscat classic is for yates or del toro

You would think that last climb is hard enough to make a difference on but theres almost always (like 95 out of 100 days) a strong headwind on it. That being said, last years edition obviously didn't have a godlike UAE team so hopefully we don't just get a sprint indeed, but if it's a reduced sprint, Coquard will definitely be there and be the favorite. His bigger chance would be the Yitti Hills stage later in the week tho. Tailormade for him.

last year there weren't really any good climbers participating. and it was properly checked. the last climb is 1.1km 9.3%. then there is a descent and only the last km is flat. A Uae that starts with Fisher Black, Del Toro, Yates can make it extremely hard.

I mean I also find it a bit weird those randoms NCs count for this sort of competition cause some of these NC's are amateur level. Just imagine Trek was not winning and they were only out because Gibbons trashed some plumbers and cashiers in South Africa.

Not that it really matters ofcourse.

Seems like it should be up to whoever creates the thread what the parameters are. Besides you can always keep track yourself of a “Last WT team to get a win not counting NCs” :)

So if they had six Ecuadorian riders who competed in the race, then it should count?
If teams provide their riders the same high level of support at NC's as they normally would for other races, then yes you could argue that. Their has to be an element of team support not just riders doing their own thing & you wouldn't need to field more than one rider.

Also it makes the thread more interesting.

Just like Arkea, Astana does it in basically the only race I expect them to win at early season.

The Visma sensation is sneaking ever closer.

There's just no way they don't win this weekend or on Monday. AG2R or Cofidis will have to win very soon for Visma to win this. They will have to do it in Provence, which is definitely possible. Zingle is there for Cofidis, AG2R is going with Bennett.

Funny thing is that Ineos would actually have won this if they didn't get bailed out by Narvaez nationals.
