Intermarche are currently leading this, and because it took them so damn long to get a win, only three other teams are still in the running.
Will Nizzolo or Viviani get a win during the Giro? Will anyone from Ag2R? Will anyone of those teams get a WT win at a later point? Remember that last year, Cofidis went the entire year without winning on the WT.

There shall be no vote-changing!

Qhubeka and Cofidis both have a good shot at getting a win at the Giro too, so AG2R are 'favoured' right now with most of their main guys not back into WT action before the Tour buildup.

Was there actually an expected guy, though? We all knew it wasn't going to be Nizzolo, so it could have been any of the rest apart from Aru.

Well... I was kinda expecting Nizzolo.

Anyway. Please note that Ag2R has significantly more time to take this than Cofidis had last year, after Cerny grapped the first - and only - WT win of the season for CCC on October 23rd.

Also, considering that 10 days ago, there were still 4 teams in the running (5 if you consider the last team to take a win before Intermarché, Cofidis, Qhubeka and AG2R), and then they all proceed to take a stage win in the first half-ish of the Giro.

That's what I was thinking...

It's actually a result from the many, but rather weak break-aways in this Giro.
Except for time trial and sprints the winners of the stages have been van der Hoorn, Dombrowski, Mäder, Lafay, Bernal, Schmid, Vendrame. Hm.

Yep, it's like the race think it's the Vuelta. So sad.

What stopped anyone else chasing?
12 teams had a rider in the break.

Of the other teams, they must all either think their GC chances are too important (BEX, Astana, Bahrain), or they've got nobody left in the race (Lotto), or both (Israel). Or they just had nothing worth racing for today (Bora).

Possibly unfair to group Bernal in with a collection of journeymen and riders that raise an underwhelmed 'hm'.

Yeah, I know it was for the sake of completeness.

In conclusion:

Six teams whose first win in general was also their first WT win. On the other end of the scale, AG2R was the team that had to wait the longest before their first win, and their first WT win, being in fact the first to get the former, and the last to get the latter.
