Giro d'Italia: *Cancels Gavia*

Tour de France: "Hold my champagne"

There is a quote 2 posts above yours where Gouvenou says that the stage will be raced so maybe you can reserve your hate until the stage is actually cancelled.
They already canceled much more than one climb that in the Giro got replaced too.

Also, it's a joke. Lighten up

'jokes' repeated too many times sop becoming funny

and any race would have cancelled the same climbs
So just like the Tour then.

It's very specific for the Tour that canceling one climb leads to getting 60km one climb stages

Very specific because it happened once?

The race is going ahead. But where flat section, climb, what? Very frustrating the lack of information.
Looks like it's the full 59km.

I am little disappointed, but you can't do anything agaisnt nature. On the other hand 59 km final stage is probably going to be madness and chaos so I am looking forward to it. Maybe Alaphilippe can do something as well today if the stage is so short. Biggest loser might be Jumbo-Visma in my opinion because getting that podium stop just got little bit harder.

Cause they half their mountain stages are 120km long with only one or two major climbs.

You are about as positive as the expression in your profile pic, but I

And then I  some more :D
That photo is actually after he won Wimbledon, you can see the top of the trophy  :D

I assumed that it must have been after one of his final losses.

Such a pair of happy chaps you two are!!

In that case I hope they cancel stage 21 as well since it's of no significance, but a Sky/Ineos parade fro the last decade.

What??

Stage 21 is and always has been a celebration for those who’ve survived the 3 weeks and the marquee stage for the sprinters...why on earth would you cancel it.

What a horribly bitter post :(

I've cancelled my surf and I'm going for a run instead. I can't wait for the best designed stage in years. I just hope they don't alter the finish line.

It has certainly not "always" been the pointless parade it is now, only the last couple of decades. I think they ought two switch it around a bit, maybe finish with a timetrial now and then.

Its truly a horrible end to the tour and it wasnt always like this. Id rather have a final TT in Paris.

I really think that some people in this forum think just about their fun. They'd let the riders ride over mud and stones, ice and snow just to see some action..
Seriously? Why so much complaining? Yeah, this could've been some of the most exciting stages in the recent history but " TdF" has nothing to do with it. Some of the roads are completely unrideable and you can't just change to route through another mountain in the same day. It's just bad luck with the weather. Like a holiday you'd been waiting for years been screwed by the weather. No point of complaining, just take the best of it.

Well pro racing exists for our entertainment
If we're not entertained, we're not entertained
Nothing against Ineos or the weather or the race directors, we're salty because the entertainment is gone
(But they did make the right decision)

Well that's true but imagine yesterdays landslide happened a bit later with riders passing? Would then our fun be so important? Instead of being salty of the Mother Nature, we have to be thankful that this things happened in a good moment. Think of that..take the best out of the situation before blaming and regretting for some cycling race..

I'd rather see a reverse Paris-Roubaix, ITT, or even a criterium stage, anything would be more entertaining than what we have

Yeah a time trial or a criterium would be more entertaining than a 33km mountain. Sure

I wonder why there isn't an alternative plan for a predictable accident like that...

So predictable with landslides.
Summer landslide on the Alps are frequents. If you look Giro systematically have a "B" plan for Alps stages

Like many suggested including myself: Make this a mtt up to Val Thorens and it's a legit stage! Actually, even a quite interesting battle between Bernal, Alaphilippe Thomas & Kruijswijk!

Instead we get this garbage. It's a peskiness! Not only because of the weather, that's nature and happens.

Well yes...debating the format of the final stage is one thing, and I’d agree, the last day TT on the Giro a couple of years back worked brilliantly....but just saying the stage should be cancelled because you don’t like the team who gets to enjoy the victory parade is what I said it is...bitter.

The stage tomorrow should’ve be split between perhaps 70k flat then a 20k or so tt after it, would make it more of a race again

Here is a similar stage from the 1996 TdF:

https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-de-france/1996/stage-9

Differences can be made, if the riders have courage and go from the bottom.

If not, it will be a snooze fest :)

I don't there is even a slight chance that it will be a snooze fest. We have riders and teams trying to get a stage win and I think that some of the GC riders (like Kruijswijk) want to move up on the GC as well so it's going to be all-out racing from start to finish.

That's what I am saying....... but only if 1 of the top 5 attack from the bottom.

Otherwise Ineos will control it all the way to the top.

The first 7 k are the hardest.
