Le Tour de France 2011 STAGE 8 - Aigurande-Super-Besse Sancy 189 km

Hard to see Evans avoiding the yellow jersey as most of his rivals are right behind him on GC and he will have to chase them if they attack. I would rather see someone like Millar take the jersey but can't see it happening. I'm sure that Contador will try something even if the potential gain is only a few seconds.

I'll take Gilbert. I think they'll ride the Cat 2. very hard. He might catch, but he will have nothing left in the tank.

I hope Saxo Bank burn everybody on the cat 2, people who are dropped may catch back up on the run into the final climb but they'll have nothing left.

Sorry, I ment: I will take Gilbert to get dropped on the 2. Then you've got a choppy run in to the 3.5k at 5% onto 1.5k at 7.5%. Gilbert's been burning up too much in the hunt for the green. I don't think it's going to happen.

will be a big change to see a Saxo bank train up the hill.

i dont think its likely. the likes of navarro and hernandez are too obsessed with saving energy before the mountain.

I think the GCers will want to put some time gaps into the field with the St. Flour stage the next day which will make it easier to control a break. No, I think they'll make use of tomorrow/today.

Wrong thread. The Evans bottle incident is covered in 3 other threads. Post your satire in there.

Barredo, Karpets, Pineau and Voeckler are guys who could attack and take yellow.

Hopefully Taaramae has a go as well though he is a bit far down.

Fail Fail Fail Fail Fail

Shrek will sleep in, miss the start, canc will try to neutralize, Cuddles will follow Contador to the line.

Go Cuddles

Here is how I see today's stage going

Garmin and HTC driving the group after this group goes away - unless the time gets too far out then 4 teams will take over with a rider each.

Txurruka
Arroyo
Gerrans
Pineau
Roy
Moncoutie
Voeckler
Brutt
Hoogerland

and the 4 teams
BMC
Lepoard
Saxo
Liquigas-Cannondale

Why after the mayhem of the last few days they will want to keep control of things and a rider each will not burn them, maybe Rabo will help as well.

I think that BMC want this stage and will drive the group if no one will help out.

With Phil wanting green and VDB2 the quite achiever so far OPL with all the arguments etc are set up well for a good results tour - if they still talk to each other after is a different story.

Today we'll see very interesting stage.
We'll see an attack Contador's units.
How will answer Andy? ;)
I want that Vino won.

I expect Ricco to jump in from the side of the road on the penultimate climb and ride away to take the stage.
Gilbert from Evans, on a more serious note.

yeah as much as I like to see him avoid yellow this stage i think cadel should with a bit of luck be in yellow. Im hoping BMC has a plan to give it up as soon as Cadel gets it

Gilbert is done in this tour. He won't even be there at the end to contest the stage.

I agree with you about Gilbert. It is time Conta, Andy, Vino, Evans etc.;)

Isn't the climb similar to the climb at the end of 3. stage in vuelta 10, maybe not as steep? Gilbert smoked everybody then. Perhaps he is running low.

If not Gilbert, definitely Uran :)
