Leg problems and cycling

Hello,

I am going to get right to the point on this issue that I have. My left leg when cycling feels really unstable, as if it is moving laterally throughout the pedal stroke. My right side is solid as a rock. I tended to sit to the left side of my saddle, so I put a homemade cleat wedge of 3mm under my left cleat. That seems to have fixed an issue I was having with sitting to the left side, as well as the constant scooting around on my saddle (I couldn't sit still on my saddle for more than a pedal stroke - really annoying). However, my left leg still feels really unstable and very inefficient.
Why does my left leg feel really unstable and powerless?

Thanks,

Jonathan

like with arms one leg is always stronger than the other all humans have this imbalance to some degree or another as well as length discrepancies. best thing to do is get a proper professional fitting.

The list of conditions that could lead to instability in one leg is quite long. Without a complete history and examination it is not possible to even begin to attempt a diagnosis. The problem could be related to the nervous system, muscular system, skeletal system, vascular system, or any combination thereof.

I highly recommend seeing a good physical therapist, orthopedic specialist, chiropractor, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist in addition to having a professional bike fit performed. The sooner you do this, the better.

If you put a wedge under the cleat you need to move the cleat back slightly so as to make the foot stable on the pedal.

Dont ask why just do it it works.
