Take a bow

Tobias Halland Johannessen should win today actually. This is the perfect race for him. Very easy route and a short steep 12 minute effort at the end. He got a nasty sprint after these type of efforts. In good shape. Similar to the stage he won in Etoile de Besseges. Mid competition barring Tulett and Del Toro.

Some big names way out of shape doesent really make a difference (yates and carapaz).
Close but no cigar

No, but Del Toro had a habit of riding like a junior last year, and he was clever to not take the bait and close down Johannessen straight away and let Tulett panic instead.
Del Toro made many, many mistakes that come with being a first year pro.
Took feeds and nature breaks in ill advised places in a race, he crashed multiple times including a crash out of gravel worlds.
Despite being brand new ,he won 3 pro races in spite of himself..
You see UAE letting Morgado, Del Toro, Christen, Torres have some personal space, riders like Yates and Wellens riding in true team capacity.
Del Toro went to training camp early and will likely stay as close to stars and be paying attention.. Steep learning curve that from what it looks like, UAE has best mentoring program in the business.
Del Toro was ( is) just okay at ITT efforts but he already got a top 10 this year. Against riders like Ganna..he is improving. Last year UAE had him Vuelta squad, this year, Strade, MSR and Giro on his calendar.

As a short reminder, Grand Prix de Denain - Porte du Hainaut, a one day classic is on today featuring some hilly terrain with cobbles sectors. Usually pretty dynamic with a small group sprinting for the win.

Edit: Now with the correct startlist (thanks RHD)

A live stream should be available somewhere if you don't have the race on the telly.
