Probably. Last year he was really good early in the season but was very underwhelming later in the season

It's a "problem" some riders have yes. In form immediately, even if they start training later. But he still was really good i n Tirreno and Itzulia.

But yeah the Giro is a bit far. Not sure about his schedule, maybe he takes a breather a bit earlier so he can be good in the Giro.

Umag is this week, normally a haven of debutants, but most of these guys have long made theirs. Nonetheless, looking forward to first years Alvarez, Freire, Stenico, Goszczurny, Van Kerckhove, Clemmensen, Halter, Montagner, Barnabas Vas and Pepe Albrecht (yes, that is actually his name). Also on the list: Fluckiger and Avancini.

A lot of riders inc. Henok not happy with the Rwanda cancellation

Season debut for Van der Poel, interesting to see if Alpecin blows it to pieces for him to go solo or if he's happy to go to the line in a smaller group and try win the upphill sprint.

Bit surprised to not see Tiller on the start list, as he's been 4th, 9th and 2nd in his last three showings at this race. Generally a weak team from Uno-X, Blikra for example has nothing to show for so far in these kind of harder sprint races.

Or VDP just trains. Does some random attacks and then just lets go in the final to not take risks. Wouldn't be the first time. It will be very good weather. Race won't be hard. Huge chance of a bunch sprint.

The competition is definitely weaker than what he's used to, even with random attacks he could find himself with a legitimate gap and take it from there.

A warm up for MvdP? Be interesting, but can not see him risking a bunch sprint, but if he's bored and out front with 30 km to go then might go for a long solo. MSR, Flanders and PR are his goals not Samyn.
Otherwise Rex who just won from Morgando last year is here and Magnier, 3rd man at KBK Hofstetter, plus De Lie so mnay will want a bunch sprint.
