He's been selected for Amstel - supposedly as a protected rider - so my guess is he wanted a hard raceday as preparation.

I need to relay this commentator conversation to you:

Rider throws a bidon as a basket with net spectators set up, misses and hits a spectator in the stomach.

Thomas Bay: He missed
Brian Holm: What do you mean?
Thomas Bay: He missed the target?
Brian Holm: What target?
Thomas Bay: The spectators set up a target for the bison, he missed it
Brian Holm: Oh, there was a target? - I though you meant because he didn't hit him in the balls

:D

It continues:

Thomas Bay: Haven't you noticed they have started to do that? - Set up targets for bidons.

Brian Holm: No

Thomas Bay: They are like basketball with a rim and a net, they even give points

Brian Holm: They give WHAT?

Thomas Bay: The spectators, they give points for hitting the targets

Brian Holm: Oh the spectators, I thought you meant the UCI had gotten another stupid idea
.
.
.
The commentary is pure insanity today :p

Strong ride by Egholm (orange lenses in white frames, no. 32), who did the U23 Paris-Roubaix on Sunday - but in fairness that was only 159K.
