Yes, as only a small part of Turkey, northwest of the Bosphorus Strait, is a part of Europe.

Even the Tour of Turkey have very few stages on that part of the country (saying few just because I'm lazy and I don't want to check if my feeling that there wasn't any there is correct).

The most recent version of the Istanbul stage started in Europe and then crossed the Bosphorus to finish with circuits on the Asian side - so the win was on Asian soil.

It's because the top competitors is based on ranking over the last year. Buchmann and kamna didn't get many results in 2021.

There was headwind there so yes, and even without headwind, a moto in front of you like that always helps.

Lutsenko probably strongest anyways tho.
