Where's Gaia Realini?
Was she injured?

She fractured her elbow back in January and had already been set back by illness before that. Since then she's continued to struggle physically, and I assume mentally, too. The fact that Longo Borghini and their coach Paolo Slongo have left for UAE may also have had an effect.

It doesn't look much better for Marta Cavalli at the moment. Every time she puts in a decent performance, it doesn't get backed up the next day and/or race. Although to be fair to both her and Realini, they weren't team leaders in Suisse (or at least it ended up that way), and I haven't heard that they crashed yesterday so their DNFs are not necessarily reasons to be more concerned about them that we were prior to the race. But with the Giro only being 3 weeks away, I think it's alright to presume they won't feature among the top riders there, if they make the start.

At least for Cavalli I know she got dropped so I assumed she just got in the car?

Realini has undoubted climbing ability, however, she has deficiencies in her riding. Poor at positioning and descending and awful in cross winds. i suspect Cavalli rode above herself when she won Amstel gold and fleche wallone, notwithstanding her injury worries.

I really wish women’s cycling had some better journalism. Every time I read an article about any race these days I’m like were you not even watching? Sorry for the rant 🥲

Saturday will see a rather unusual situation, with several club-team riders participating in a WT race.
As you might have guessed, they'll all be riding for the National Team in Copenhagen Sprint. Mørkøv - or Bennekou - just didn't have any opportunity to select actual pros since Canyon, Trek, Uno-X, and Cofidis are all riding, so is O'Shea, which has young Krickau Ketelsen.

Cille is not riding the race, so Canyon not being there might not have made a difference.

I can't quite put into words how angry this whole Copenhagen Sprint enterprise makes me. At least it's a good thing, that they are having a womens' race and giving it the full respect the womens' peloton deserves.

It's just a pity it's wasted on Copenhagen, when Aarhus, Aalborg, Randers, Horsens, Kolding, Vejle, Silkeborg, or Viborg would have been so much better.

We should just sell Zealand to Sweden and use the money to build some mountains.

Copenhagen is far better than anywhere else in Denmark in terms of drawing a crowd.

Not every race needs to be designed for Pogacar type riders. It's fine that sprinters have some races too, and Copenhagen is a fantastic place for it.

My stream was 50km behind. Missed it.

Happy to see Chiara on the podium. Nothing to do against Lorena.
