Setmana Valenciana is the first stage race on European soil and will be the first outing this year for multiple riders, most notably Vollering,t he defending champion, and Elisa Balsamo who usually wins at least one stage in this race.

The opening Ganda stage has proved to be hard enough to destroy the field, which happened last year, too, when FDJ launched Vollering perfectly, but it can also finish in a reduced sprint on a different day.

Stage 2 features some climbs, but they are not that steep and they are also located too far from the finish to make a real difference, so expect a bunch sprint.

Stage 3 is almost a copy of stage 3 from 2023 which was won by Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, after she launched her sprint through a roundabout and defeated Amanda Spratt and Annemiek van Vleuten. If the first stage hasn't already decided the final outcome, then this one could very well do the trick.

Stage 4 is the classic Sagunt-Valencia stage with l'Oronet with usually ends in a bunch sprint won by Balsamo (Bastianelli won ahead of Balsamo once).

I just want Paternoster with some good top 5 finish in a stage this race. Some hard days, curious if she can hold on with the like of Balsamo and Ferguson for a sprint.

FDJeux making it hard early on the last climb. Making it a GC day.

And Vollering attacking. Only one rider from Canyon following her.

The gap has reduced about 5 seconds in the last 10kms and it appears the peleton is riding hard. Can Lidl stop putting Realini at the head of the peleton on flat parts which started in the TDU.

Lidl Trek needs to go all out now for Balsamo. Just put everyone in front now, even the leadout or they won’t catch them.

15” now, they won’t make it with 5km to go.

How did she even managed to attack in/out the roundabout. Maybe Lippert went in too wide or something.

Happy for Cat and Letizia. Gonna be a good year supporting them.

The crash from Lidl Trek in front took out Balsamo her chance today. Surprisingly not many crashed there, but most of the front girls lost all the momentum.
