its obvious to me now... just an add from powercranks to get people experimenting with shorter ones so we would buy 145 mm cranks... oh whatever

145mm is sooooo last year, it's all about the 100mm cranks now

New to the forum, wanted to weigh in on this earlier but only just had my account activated.

I did a research project on this topic last year, looking at energy expended (from respiratory analysis) vs energy output (power on a wattbike) for sustained submax efforts, using crank lengths from 115 to 205mm.

Even with a tall subject group, averaging about 6'3", the peak efficiency occurred between 150 and 160mm for almost every subject. Definite drop off below 140 and above 190.
