145mm is sooooo last year, it's all about the 100mm cranks now ;)

New to the forum, wanted to weigh in on this earlier but only just had my account activated.

I did a research project on this topic last year, looking at energy expended (from respiratory analysis) vs energy output (power on a wattbike) for sustained submax efforts, using crank lengths from 115 to 205mm.

Even with a tall subject group, averaging about 6'3", the peak efficiency occurred between 150 and 160mm for almost every subject. Definite drop off below 140 and above 190.
