I don't believe for a second that LL would suddenly stop doping upon joining Astana, which was basically Discovery mark 2, with pretty much the same people in charge. No way. He admitted to what USADA already knew because it would have been foolish not to, and remained silent about the rest. No respect from me.

Clean at the 2008 Vuelta :D

Statement about the confession of Levi Leipheimer

The Rabobank Cycling Team’s management has been informed of the results of the USADA report. It is specifically disappointed about the confession made by Levi Leipheimer.
These testimonies confirm that cycling still faces difficult times, especially created by its past. The team’s management would like to see that the world of cycling collectively closes the issue. However, the problem appears to be so big that this should be done centrally.

The sport of cycling has a huge past but in the meantime the sport also has a great future. The Rabobank Cycling Team is convinced the sport is heading in the right direction. The team’s management looks towards the future. Rabobank wants to achieve results in cycling in a clean and fair manner.

No denials.

At least Rabo (not the individuals) is always up front when caught. They never denied that the management team was fraudulent with the whereabouts of MR.

Now if only they had fired the bunch in 2007 I actually would have a few grams of respect left.

What about Contador? Is he mentioned at all in this case?

I'm guessing he's "Rider 16" in Levi's affidavit.

I'm disappointed as well that USADA let him off after 2007, I guess Trygart had to pick his fights...

Wonder why he's disqualified from 1999, no SOL for him ?

It seems strange that he gets a sanction for a first offense. Shouldn't be given a 8 year ban (reduced to 2 for cooperating)?
The UCI better give all of these guys at least 2 years, they didn't have anything to say during their process. I figure that most riders really did believe that Armstrong had the UCI in his back pocket and would never go to McQuiad with a problem or concern. If all these riders had results including grand tour results without coming up positive there are only two options. The tests didn't work or they did and the UCI manipulated the results.

Not a first offence, see the original post of this thread. He's had a 3 month suspension before, handled all very quietly.
Get off well here without a life ban. He can come back to sports. Others before him who took less dope and earned less doing so, got off worse.

I honestly hope quickstep fires leechheimer and it he gets blacklisted. lefevere was very unhappy with leipgeimer this year so this might just be the right excuse.

people should always get a 2nd chance. or else this world would be a mess and people would constantly repeat mistakes already made by people before them.

I'm still disagreeing due to the enormity of the fraud (and conspiracy involved). A rider get 2 years, the management team seemingly didn't get much of a sanction.

So yes, I'm all for second chances, but only when the rules are fair. If Rasmussen get's banned, then why not ban the other conspirators? Even if you decide their transgressions weren't as big, there have to be consequences.

I agree with this 100% but I was simply refering in general. rasmussen never admitted to doping though. at least those idiots at rabo admitted to making mistakes and what they had lacked(de rooy). and they fired de rooy who was most responsible and changed the whole thing around installign knebel from within the bank onto the team to have a tigher finger on the pulse.

Sounds reasonable. I haven't heard a peep out of Chris Horner in quite a while, by the way.

Chris even after reading USADA report believes Lance is as clean as linen. Wake up Chris!

The problem is that actually Breukink and Leinders were also heavily involved in the whereabouts fraud. That's right from the judicial proceedings...

So the KNWB, UCI, CAS, IOC, Rabo, someone should have said... wait a minute... These guys are being deliberately fraudulent with the whereabouts system? We really can't condone this!

but besides MR winning the financial case nothing was done towards EB and GL.

On a side note, it's clear now why EB was fired a few weeks ago. The team probably got wind of LL confessions and decided to ditch the last link to that period.

WTH is that : "The Levi Effect: The Story of Levi Leipheimer" http://www.fathomevents.com/sports/event/levieffect.aspx

Hope that was made before the s**t hit the fan if not people are going to be wanting their money back, well those who bother at least. Since the shameless Paul Sherwen is featured in the teaser I doubt it though, this is going to be messy...

the gran fondos and now this? Levi's career has jumped the shark
