Brilliant finish, hard luck to Nibali but a great ride from Iglinsky to bridge across. Also, fantastic from Dan Martin, the wet weather this week must have helped his allergies.

Btw, Igor Anton must have crashed, broken collar bone.

NOOO  is Anton's injury confirmed?

anyone know what the argument between Bruyneel and the Schleck's were before La Redoute as they were at the back on the start of the climb ?

They are still arguing about who will be DS in the tour. :D

He should hook up with that squealing teenage AC supporter la florecita, and drown their sorrows with Shirley Temples.

Not gonna work. We've already got her hooking up with her archnemesis airstream, just so we can shoot a movie about it in the future (with Olivia Wilde playing LaFlorecita)

2012 Amstel Gold Race:

I must admit, I didn't see him as a top man for Liège given that his best classics performances are in races like E3 and San Remo (and de Ronde), but his mountain domestiquing duties for Contador in '08 meant I knew he could climb when he was on the right form for it, so when he was in the front group I thought he could get a top result.

I didn't think he'd win, but I thought he could get a top result. When him and Rodríguez went away I desperately wanted them to stay away so he got on the podium. Still didn't think he'd win.

He did have to do a lot of domestique work for Vino and the likes in the past, will be interesting to see what he can do when he's a leader. He'll definitely be Astana's leader for these races now along with Gasparotto. Future will tell if he was a fluke winner or the real deal I guess. He's always had the talent, but never seemed to really break through, so I thought it was too late by now.

He was a bit lucky that a lot of top favorites were mediocre as well. Phil, Samu, Schleck sisters, Valverde, Uran(not really a top favorite, but a dangerous outsider), GVA, Cunego, etc

What country will this take place in? Airstream better watch out for the child molestation charges. Maybe they will elope to Utah.

Not necessarily - I backed and layed Albasini with different providers cos I spotted a gap in prices so I was guaranteed a profit either way, maybe the guy did the same. Well I hope so for his sake. Well done anyway, great result! I'd got Dan Martin for the podium at 20-1 (Betfair hadn't even listed him!) and he was very close but no cigar.

x150 odds is my best one eve rby far though. last years vuelta with cobo was x30. also great

Cunego is one of those guys that flies under the suspicious radar because of his nice persona. Somebody coming out of nowhere winning lead up races to the Giro that year, then winning it, then never sniffing the podium again is much more suspicious than Ignlinsky.

Still Damiano was 4th at 2006 Giro behind dopers Gutierrez Cataluna and Basso. He also was 5th at 2007 Giro .

Wow, that was an impressive win by Iglinsky!

I Feel a bit sorry for Nibali. He always tires himself with those breaks because nobody has the guts to join his attacks. But well, let's hope he will win the Giro then.

Still anyone thinking Gesink is better than Nibali? :p

Didn't really like him all that much and I was glad he got third at the Giro(so Scarponi would get the "win" later on instead of him), but gotta say, he's winning me over. Just needs to use his brain more.

brilliant final

at first i thought it was done and Nibali had won. But I had a feeling all along that they were measuring the time towards the Gilbert group, instead of the 1st chasers (Iglisnky/Rodriguez).
I suspect Iglinsky was a lot closer than 43 seconds at the foot of Saint Nicolas, more like 25-35 seconds.

Nibali really cracked hard in the end. Because the 2nd group also came quite close while they were not exactly chasing at 100% either. Too bad because Nibali's solo looked fantastic until Saint Nicolas. He just had nothing left in the final 5km. Lombardia 2011 all over again.

Also I find a new consistent in races. When D. Martin and B.Mollema participate in a race, there is a 90% chance D.Martin will finish exactly 1 place higher.
