I genuinely think it is better for Seixas if he's soundly beaten by both Pogacar and Remco. Not because I don't want him to do well and fulfil his potential, but it would give him a bit more breathing space to develop and remind (some) people that he's only 19.

I hear you but he may have the discipline to last later and find his outer limits. That may include hitting the zone Remco leaves trying to go head to head with Tadej. Neither T nor R would expect the newbie to contribute much and that could add some interesting aggression. Not that we can expect surprises to come late but there is a decent field for this.

Epic finish by Ala. He blocked Rogla's rivals, celebrated and let Rogla pass him. Rogla should buy him beer for life.
He revenged it at FW next year but some beer is still one the table. And on top of that Pogi and Moho where in that select group of five and Hirschi. So this was likely the most Slovenian finale of LBL ever, past and future editions. Mathieu was dropped from the group of favourites and finished 14s behind.
Memory that lasts a lifetime, and beyond.

That Liege was a nice battle of the best stage-racers (Pogi, Rogla) and the best one-day racers (Ala, MVP, Hirschi). That's how it looked just before Pogi started racking up wins everywhere.
1997, 1999, 2011, 2013, 2020 are the only editions I (vaguely) remember, with 1999 probably the most anticipated / spectacular. That's one good race in 30 years.
In terms of entertaining races, LBL scores on par for me with Fleche, and lowerthan Strade, E3, Omloop, the first 100K of Paris-Roubaix, Scheldeprijs and the tour of Qatar.

I understand the expectation today about Seixas, but IMo is ilogical Seixas is above Remo in the poll to win Liege.
Anyway there is a poll in wich preferences play a rolle. Remco has failes in some races this year and Seixas is on the peak of the wave, winning almost everything clearly.
In a poll to vote for podium places surely Remco will be above, but for sure could be similar. We will see on Sunday.

He's dropped every time it gets a bit hard in Tour of the Alps. While 20-30 other riders are still there. How is he going to fare against a much better peloton? It's not like he is being dropped on long climbs, also just shorter, punchier ones. I don't think he finishes in top 25.

Also, he shouldn't ride today's stage if he wants to taper properly for Liège.
The finish of LBL 1987 is crazy. A bunch of spectators on the finishing straight like it's Alpe d'Huez, a commentator with a microphone almost running into the riders as they're sprinting, cars and motos getting involved, half the population of Liege gathered behind the finish line.....the race was exciting too
