And otherwise they'd be racing for 4th.

That's why I said it's justified. Everyone is racing for a good result.
But so it would be if Pogacar was on the front with Evenepoel and Seixas behind. And I have a feeling that you would be very salty at the teams working with UAE because of the "negative mentally, racing for second".

I'm not sure what to think of this. Evenepoel winning solo seems quite likely from this situation, but it's still 200 km, so the second half might still come back.

UAE isn't here with its strongest selection. They don't really have the riders to organize a long chase. Other teams won't chase, because they have someone in the break.

It's a pity that outsiders like Gégoire, Skjelmose etc. have missed the opportunity to be in group 1. The biggest names next to Evenepoel are Bernal, Leknessund, Martin, Hermans, De Plus and Van den Broek. Bernal is probably the only one who could challenge Evenepoel if this group stays away.

Surely nobody should work in first group as they are racing for second with Remco there?

A lot of cycling terrorists in that group, no? Isnt this what you always say?

Just trying to understand if I have understood your view in recent times, as it surely must be the same now?

Dunno about that, some riders who are riding for Top 10 in that break. They have better chances versus Remco than versus Pogacar. I'm thinking Hermans, De Plus.

Way too early to say it’s curtains for the Peloton. If anything G1 whereas great for hiding the size of it may make keeping co-operation and them from attacking themseves difficult.

Ideal scenario either way for Remco whilst the groups are so large but i’d be weary of judging. Preusmably there will come a time when Decathalon will also swing behind Seixas and help.

Man, If it were Pogacar in front instead of Remco, you wouldn't be talking about the top 10 of those other cyclists, but about how they're handing him the race.

If they've attacked with 250k to go in a monument they wouldn't have usually attacked in because riders crashed creating a split then it's way out of line, what are we doing here.

If these riders really have a chance against Evenepoel, then he is the most overrated rider in cycling. Easily.
They are racing for second. And that, of course, is okay.

Normally such a big group isnt riding well together. They have to organize themself. Teams with numbers have to put a rider to the front im G1.
I think UAE and Decathlon can match such a pace. I don't think it is over.

Absolutely, that's okay. The problem is that those who have been criticizing Pidcock and others for weeks now have to completely change their argument. It's a bit embarrassing :tearsofjoy:

Fascinating situation and so frustrating that we can’t see who is contributing and how stressed people are looking.

Only about 10 decent climbers at the most in the front group so at around halfway you would expect the group to start to seriously fracture.

Only Remco and Bernal are premium names up there but without them you would still feel fine about the pelotons chances of catching back up.

However it ends up you would expect the end result to be the fastest ever edition of the race and for it to splinter into tiny groups all across Belgium rather than a big positioning battle for the key climbs.

Pogacar is not out of it yet but it could end up being his greatest ever win if he does get it at the end.
