probably not since it’s smarter for Remco to not work and let Peleton catch them. He will finish at least 2 or3 in that case but he has the good chance to finish as 1 since he will have the domestics around him.

Race center already has it at 4 minutes. The 2nd peloton is either struggling to bring it back or not panicking and just setting a steady pace.

other than Ineos and Red Bull realistically all the other teams represented have best bullets are in G2, strategically though it makes sense to keep G1 ahead and make UAE and Decathlon. You have to factor teams like Picnic who are desparate for points and have 5 riders ahead even if they realise they have no hope of challenging for the podium if group stays away they could still score a decent amount of points.

The gap between G1 and Peloton seems pretty static. I would not think there will be too much panic just yet - they need to make inroads in the gap between 150km-100km to go - there is little risk in Remco going solo before then. From 100km to go onwards if Remco has 3 minutes still it will be progressively more difficult as the domestiques in the peloton start to shred and the risk of Remco flying the coup solo from G1 probably increases.

Still i think Remco would prefer to avoid going solo before La Redoute if he can help it as he should be clearly the strongest from the front 50 but will i suspect depend on the gap and his judgment as to when to push ahead.

Anyhow ducking out - will catch the race later. Be intriguing to see how it plays out either way.

Someone like Hermans is perfectly capable of winning here.

There are no images, all that is known is that a crash split the peloton in two.

Very few as in none, but the probability is much higher when being in front with max gap for the majority of the best riders. And you never know if something happens with Remco.

It is hard to control such a group.

Gap could go down, but then a move will happen at some point in the front.
