I also don't understand why Groupama is working, unless they just want UAE/Decathlon to lose riders in G2. But if I was in G1 I would think RBH, Q365, INEOS, UNOX, SOQ, Picnic and Burgos all take turns with 1 riders. They all have riders for a great result or the numbers to help.

the ideal scenario from here for paul is probably for evenepoel to have over a minute at stavelot

enough time to cause uae and pogi to ride suboptimally , but no more than what pogi with a long move can still catch

It's 2 UAE and 1 Decathlon pulling the peloton

The break had 5-6 guys taking turns in front, but is now down to 2.

Some of the teams out in front need to dedicate a few more riders to the gap - but if they do I'm not sure the peloton can just close down the break anytime they want, there are a lot of riders in the break who just cruised along so far.

No way UAE let Remco go with the break, he must have 100% sneaked in which means a big failure from UAE to not spot that. Thanks for the no TV coverage.

It could be an insane finale like Pogi catching the early break in a Tour stage 5’ ahead. Big difference that Remco is a top 3 favorite, and it’s a 1 day race not stage 17 or so.

So Seixas won't finish within 2min of Pogacar today? Doubt it. Pogacar has never won by 2min in LBL
Different races. We haven't seen Pogacar go from real far and push to his limits.
I think he can close 1min 30 secs to Remco in the last 60 kms.
From Redoute - no way.

Jose De Cauwer, pundit on the Flemish Tv, said to his colleagues on Walloon tv things are going to be exciting if Remco has an an advantage of 1h30 to Pogacar and Seixas at the Redoute.
Pogacar losing 1h30 to Remco will probably put him in the mix for the ladies race

I dunno. I've seen Pogacar go mental and then ease of the gas so often. I think if Pogacar is forced to not ease off the gas Remco will either need 2 minutes or we will see the rare sight of Pogacar faltering whilst trying. That sight alone would boost morale for the entire peloton

you dont have to ride now like what you should do later

maybe in 30 km they should not pull as long as evenepoel doesnt . or a bit before that and then attack from the group

but that is not now and it this point its better to pull some

Of course it's better to pull.
It's better to pull as much as you/your team can. Most riders won't get a better chance for a top 10.

But most of people (except for Pogacar fans) wouldn't be saying this if Pogacar was in the front group with/instead of Evenepoel.

someone from the first group will win this - the gap is too much for one peleton to close down another

If gap goes down to one minute then Remco will just take off with a few riders and open up the finale when they start hitting the climbs

I dont see Sivakov and a couple of other doms from Decathlon pulling much time back by then

They need to shed some time in the next 30-40 km

Only reason why I think Pogacar might catch Evenepoel if he has more than 1min lead is if Evenepoel is also just tired from riding in the front the whole time. He's not taking turns, but he is in front

That also depends on who else is in that group. If you never won anything, you pull.
If you are a champion, you only soft pull with pogacar, never more.
Pogacar just that much better. But who knows , Seixas might be up there soon as well.
Maybe Seixas can ride different against Pogacar. But remco, MVDP, Van Aert, need to soft pull.
Vingegaard needs to both soft pull and just pull.
