So Remco didn't have balls to join fuga de la fuga. Missed opportunity and now he has probably wasted more kJ's than main group.
Even if it hadn't worked out, he would have received much more respect if he had actively tried to win and not only tried to secure podium spot.

This will likely be the end of the “sit at the back for the first 130k” strat that some of the favourites have been doing, at least for the next few years.

Then they will start doing it again, and something like this will happen, and reset.

I think Remco did the right thing in not taking a risk and sending it. We know from past editions that waiting until Redoute and trying to follow Pogacar gives him a good chance of winning

Has Remco burned much energy with the early break? Do you feel it will compromise his effort for an attack later?
He didn't really do work in the break and was constantly out of the wind, except for a short 5 minute period on the climb (probably to open up his legs).

I don't think it makes a difference.
