Anyone else notice the Irizar photoshop job? That's NOT how his picture appeared on their website yesterday.

The dumbest part is....the pics show up unedited RIGHT BELOW ON THE SAME PAGE

He's actually Gordon Fraser

EDIT: Interesting. The basques have basque flags. And if you want to know the extent to which Klöden is still ****ed at his homecountry, check the flag next to his name :D

The ikurrinak for Zubeldia and Irizar are causing some discussion. But their profile pages say "Spanish" for their nationality. Another badly-thought-out inconsistency?

Okay, thanks. So, first the 5 team captains were presented: Schleck, Schleck, Cancellara, Kloden and Horner - also referred to as the five "leaders" or the ........... "fab five"

Then, at some point, the 6 "leaders" were presented. All the above .......plus Fuglsang.

.

Fuglsang was presented as one of the "captains" at the presentation.

Fuglsnake a leader? He's a bad cyclist. Just pick Oliver Zaugg, at least he can win a race outside Denmark.

I don't really see a strong team in the mountains to be honest:

prediction of 2012: Horner and Klöden will both suck.

I think he has a European flag because Klöden doesn't want the german flag on anything he wears, he doesn't want to be associated with it at all. Not Lance, but Klöden is the master of Omerta. The guy's insanse.

Was worth visiting the shack site just too see Klödens rage with the german newspapers and cycling authority is still as strong as it ever was.

Leader or captain... it doesn't matter. He wasn't presented as a leader / captain at first. Only at a later stage, apparently.

The first part of the press conference was a Q&A session with Johan Bruyneel and the team captains Andy and Fränk Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Andreas Klöden and Chris Horner. Bruyneel, with 13 Grand Tours to his name arguably the best Team Manager in the business, introduced his ‘fab five’ to the gathered international press.

I believe you, but it makes no sense.

Well, that's why I asked in the first place :)

I think it would have been more natural to count Fuglsang among the climbers, I don't think he ever did anything that could justify him being a leader. Except for being a close personal friend of Andy off course

See I'm trying to figure out who will be captain in which race. Andy will be the captain in TdF and Cancellara in the classics, that's for sure. Horner will be captain in the all-important grand tour of California. Now what about the Giro and the Vuelta? Bruyneel has said that he ranks Klöden over Fränk, so Klöden will probably be captain in one of these races. Who will be captain in the other? Fränk or Jacob?

Jakob will target the Giro and none of the other leaders will be there. This much has been confirmed.

Fugslang already said that he is the leader for Giro. Presumably Frank will do Vuelta as a leader or Kloden.

Thats the press conference, where they sit with Brunyeel in proper clothes.

At the presentation, with the Bieber presenter, the techno musik and the cheesy dialogue, where they came on in full cycling kit, with bikes, and in front of a live audience, there Fuglsang was presented as a "captain".

First they showed the picture cards of the "captains" on screen and then they all came out and showed off their kit.

I think you've misunderstood the Bruyneel approach to cycling. Yes Fabian will be the captain for the Classics. But then Andy, Frank, Kloden and Horner will all be captains for the Tour. No it doesn't make sense, but don't let that stop you.

Yes, why only fight the rest of the peloton, when you can also fight your own teammates. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone! It's going to be really entertaining to watch them stab each others backs.

Also Monfort has voiced his ambitions for Vuelta leadership, and rightfully so if you ask me! I hope he will be allowed to have the same role there as last year

Monfort has proven he's worthy of a leadership role when he asks it indeed. I didn't believe he'd be 6th tbh, more like 10th-15th..
Kloden hasn't really featured in a GT since 2009.

Even better to read the details and reactions.

Klöden wants to save the € :D

When asked by Radsportnews, Klöden was first irritated, had a look at his nameplate and then stated "I'm fighting for the €. It's going downwards, so I want to take care of it."

"Luxemburger Wort" stated that the flag change wasn't really intended.
There was just no German flag available.

That makes no sense, because he had the €-flag in the internets.
You could see it when you were, by coincidence, successfully lead to the correct page.

And here is a full interview with Radsportnews from yesterday.
http://www.radsport-news.com/sport/sportnews_73138.htm

Just for confirmation that Mr.Klöden only has stopped talking to some special media outlets in Germany. And this mainly because of the way they treated his good friend Jan Ullrich.
Just for your info. Of course Klöden is insane too.

So Klöden has a plan to save the EU economy! If only Merkel and Sarkozy knew this all our problems would be solved. I guess all the EURO needs is some awareness (TM)

Yes, obviously. All I'm saying is there's a disconnect between the two.

I guess Bruyneel moves in mysterious ways. It seems his philosophy is something along the lines of "If I keep them all insecure and in the dark about their role on the team, they will work harder". Which is the direct opposite of the philosophy of f.ex. Bjarne Riis, who goes out of his way to make the riders feel they are among friends. I know which one I like best.

none of them will. he will send all to the tour, bruyneel cares absolutely not about the giro. they will ride with A squad in california and A squad in the tour and that's end of season unless they fail again miserably in which case they plan another failure with A squad at the vuelta

That's not what Bruyneel has suggested. Andy is the undisputed leader, and Klodi will be plan B. Still doesn't make sense

pne thing will be sure. bruyneel will pick irizar even above frank as reserve leader ain any case for the tour which will probably become a problem with andy as well. bruyneel doesn't like frank
