Light headed and dizzy in the morning

Sometimes if I get up too fast in the morning my head spins. Feels like my brain stayed in bed while my body got up and there's a dizzy moment where my brain trys to catch up.

It's not consistent. Some mornings are fine others terrible. Very low (for me) resting heart rate seems to coincide with the worst episodes (bpm = low forties).

Any thoughts? Besides the obvious - see a doctor (that's coming).:)

Good you are seeing a doctor. My first guess would be hypotension (low blood pressure) as a result of your low resting HR.

Need pork rinds, beer and tv to get that blood pressure up to healthy levels :)

Kidding - worst case scenario (and I do really mean worst case) is a brain tumour. Only because they can lead to dizziness in the morning that subsides as the day wears on. Highly unlikely though.

It's good to go see a doc of course - but you can't be passive, there's a lot to gain by questioning, and getting them to discuss your symptoms rather than being another sheep they just shuttle through asap. That's the principle of the family doctor that is all the better for their detailed knowledge of their patients. Lost in the barbarous conversion of healthcare into a profit making enterprise.

I have low blood pressure. I've been measured as low as 103/60, but usually I'm 110/70. When I sit down on my haunches and then stand up quickly, I often get very light headed and I have to bend over putting my hands on my knees until the blood finally reaches the ***. It only takes a few seconds and all's good.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to see that it's not that unusual. It's crazy that dizziness can mean anything from absolutely nothing at all to "you're about to die."

I seem to remember a study on the effects of strength training on the elderly (I am not suggesting you are elderly), it was noted that peaks AND troughs in blood pressure were minimised following a "classic" strength training program (something like 3 sets of 6 reps compound movements i.e. large muscle groups of the legs, back and core involved).
