Nibali to the Giro and the Tour? Unlikely.
For one, he's already hinted he'd like to defend his Vuelta title, and this wouldn't be feasible after going all out in the giro and riding the tour.
Second, he'd be little help in the tour and would ruin any chance of late season form by riding the tour after the ridiculously hard giro route...

Assuming he can actually win the Giro, it might be smart for Nibali to take a gap break to try to win the Vuelta.

BUT, it wouldn't be a bad idea for him to at least put himself in the mix with Basso at the Tour. Not too many guys can claim they won all three GT's in a row.

Well, the Vuelta is really the only GT he has a strong chance of winning.

Nibali will more than likely get murdered at the Giro if Ricco and Anton show up.

At the Tour - it would be a fight to beat Sanchez and Menchov, let alone Schlecky.

I think Giro-Vuelta is the way to go, perhaps the Tour in 2012 will be his best chance of winning it.

He was third at the Giro this year... If you ignore Aroyyo he was second(breakaway). He showed better form at the Giro then at the Vuelta. He didn't even reconaissance any stages of the Vuelta. He used Google Earth. The climbs weren't also suiting to him. He has a great shot at winning Il Giro next year, especially because he will be another year older :)

Give it a rest, ricco won't be up there.

With 3 strong GT riders they must focus on all 3 GT.
This means that you can win all 3, but you can easily lose all 3!
Not easy to schedule the team.
But for sure Basso is riding TdF (and probably the strongest team of helpers will peak for TdF).
Nibali is probably going again for Giro/Vuelta.
Pellizotti would probably run for himself (as he always does) so wherever he goes, he will be more of an opponent than an helper.
Considering his long break, he can't really compete for a GT overall win, so probably will hunt stages and jersey.

A nice problem to have for any team btw. ;)

Nibali to peak for Giro and Vuelta is obvious,
Basso for me has to give the tour 100% and one last go, i rekkon he could win it with luck and it would be perfect gloss on his career
I would then send Basso to Vuelta as domestique/leader as well
Pellizotti is a super domestique for basso @ tour and Nibali @ Giro
no KOM or leadership for him, he has never had that potential or class

What are you talking about? Pelli won the polka dot jersey last year, and he was 2nd at the Giro (after Di Luca's suspension) so I think he's shown some talent for both GC and KoM

(assuming, as we now apparently must, that Pelli was clean while he got those results)

The problem seems to be solved: Pellizotti can go to some team with 0 or only 1 GC-contender. Movistar (without Valverde), Geox (Sastre rides all tours, but even he can't be serious to captain in all 3 GT's) and Sky are good options. For Rabo or Silence (resp. only Gesink and VDB), but I thought those teams have their roster completed. Saxo bank also springs to my mind :D

Nibali for the Giro
Basso for the Tour
whoever has some energy left: Vuelta or Nibali can ride it only as prep to be good as Lombardia??
