it is beyond me how can some1 not love the guy.

is the myth that nibali doesn't attack finally dead?

the guy rides with style, has gigantic balls, races all season long, kills himself for his own team mates when its needed( tour of pologne this year) thats the sign of a great champion. i hope he also manages to win a giro in his career, he certainly deserves it.

right now he is giving us a hell of a show at the GdL lets hope he can take it even tho the odds are against him imo

Nibali never attacks. Any signs of the contrary is merely a measurement error.

Dekker_tifosi can come visit this thread especially after his comments about Nibbles in the giro. :D

D_T said nibali was the rider he disliked the most so i will never expect him to say anything good about nibali. most like he will just call nibali an idiot for what he did today . . .

I'm not. I'd rather see him animate the giro then ride the tour to an anonymous 7th or 8th place.

i am pretty sure he can do better then 7th or 8th on the tour. he would be fighting for the podium imo

also for some reasn he still seems to be improving a bit every year. maybe his semi diesel engine is taking longer to develop?

I think the giro suits him more. It has a sense of unpredictability which clearly benefits nibbles.

The tour is a hard pace, he will struggle for a podium and certainly wont be able to animate the race like he could at the giro.

Great performance for the Shark!!!
The 2011 wasn't his year
In the 2012 he'll participate at Tour for the podium, but he must improve in the Time Trial...

If he didnt attack on Ghisalo I think Nibali would have won. Big if but he was very strong.

Its one thing to say you dont like a rider, but to say as Dekker did in the Vuelta that Nibali has NEVER attacked in his life, and then ignore all the posts which showed examples of Nibali launching attacks, was very very cheap

In law they call it defamation.

He came 7th in 2009 (would have been 6th if not for ttt) miles ahead of the 8th place.

And hes a stronger rider now. + the course suits him. Nibali could definately be a threat, especially with that descent finish im hearing about.

Not the best tter though. Not the worst but not the best either.

I think he's a very smart rider. In GTs, that often means riding somewhat conservatively but he's very aggressive in one-day races. He also seems like a great team mate and a natural leader who will continue to develop. His great bike handling and his intelligence serve to keep him out of trouble so I think he'll have a long and successful career.

Nibali put all his energy into one attack from far out today.
He lost, but he tried.
These efforts have always been close to my heart.

And a rider who genuinely rides for the win from March (he's always there on the Poggio) to October, and even tries to win a GT in between, has to get your respect.

Let the guy dream. He's Liquigas' best chance in the Tour, regardless of the position he might get.

I think most Italian riders have a hard time on CN forum. dunno why:confused:
Because they generally do well at the Giro, causing them to be massively overrated :p

Great ride from Nibali today. Although with a 1'30 advantage with 50 k to go, it was never gonna happen. I think he got a little overexcited when he found out he was stronger than Gilbert.

With a bit more time to look back at what happened while he made the race exciting for about 30km one can't help but wonder whether he squandered a pretty good chance of winning.

Don't know about that, that front group didn't get away due to their great climbing, but their great descending. You'd expect Nibali to be the best climber in a group with Visconti, Gilbert, Fuglsang, Paolini...

It's quite likely that 1) the last climb would have suited Gilbert/Visconti/Paolini vs Nibali more than the Ghisallo and 2) that had he not tried to break up the group and they stayed together they would have been caught anyway as the gap was about 25 seconds when he attacked.

Still, going solo with 50+ to go against a relatively big group was never going to work and he or the team car should have understood that.
