Sure, if my health insurance will cover a visit to Dr. Ferrari.

Good to see that ol' Polisher is consistant and defends all dopers.

Well,except for Contador anyway.

Jeanne4Ever grrrrrr.
She is awesome.

But if she ever winked and did a bang bang victory shootout, I would depart the fanboy train. Sorry, that would not be cool. Panacheless.

Loving it ! How old is he - 60 ? Got to be up there with Rumsas - wife states car full of epo was for her personal use - husband cyclist, no he never touches the stuff - and the late Vandenbroucke - the EPO is for FIDO, he is not well !

Longo - Confirmed,
Pitel - not on the scene long enough for usage to be confirmed.

What was going through Ciprelli's head as he thought about popping the question?

If I ask her if she wants some epo, she is going to ask me if longo uses it. If I say "no", she will say - why the hell do you ask me if I want it then, am I rubbish by comparrision to the great Jeannie ? If I say "yes", she can put me and Jeannie in the papers any day she wants. How is that going to play out in our relationship in the comming months. Great if he has no plans for ever getting back with Jeannie, but if he was two timing, not a chance in hell he was going to leave somebody with a lighted torch standing by his wooden bridges, with him on the far side.

The only way would be if she asks first and he denies ever supplying Longo. Not likely.

Joe have you heard anything from Ciprelli's lawer -

".....In a statement made by his lawyer, Bruno Ravaz, Ciprelli accused the newspaper L'Equipe of having faked the documents in which the purchase of 80,000 iu of EPO is being discussed.

"Patrice Ciprelli formally denies any implication. To him, they are crude fakes and so he may resort to filing suit in this affair," said the statement

or does Ciprelli use the same legal office as the UCI in their claims on Landis. You couldn't make it up.

Mother in law actually :p

I really would hate to get on the wrong side of her

yeah not a pleasant situation. the adultery is more offensive to me than the PED use.

According to rumours I've heard from somebody who is actually in very good terms with Longo, her and Ciprelli have gotten back together only very recently, so that the EPO purchase (2010-2011) would have been made at a time when they lived apart. Which would make it less unlikely that the EPO was not for Jeannie.

Or maybe he got tired of always getting dropped when they rode together:D

I agree. We all grow old and most of us slow down, but not Longo.

Either French women's cycling is clean except for Longo, or they dope and fail hard at it for a woman in their 50's to keep on beating them.

Patrice Ciprelli, the trainer and husband of legendary French cyclist Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli, has reportedly confessed to purchasing the blood-boosting hormone Erythropoietin (EPO) in 2010 and 2011 on L'ÉquipeTV, but contended the drug "was for his own, personal use".

So sad. Why even pretend? Is anyone even remotely going to believe him?

I think it tarnishes Longo's legacy even more.

I think that's worse than no comment.

But as all these verdicts, revelations etc hit the ether, it proves to me that real culprit is the sport itself.

And I think it is impossible to solve.

Cycling will always be a dirty sport and people will cheat because that's how it's always been done.

It is sad because the fans don't care at all about objective speed. They care about the race. And I think doping makes race tactics a lot more conservative (and boring).

But wasn't he still her coach/trainer even if they weren't together as a couple? Who else would he have being buying EPO for, I am assuming it wasn't for his own use. Also in a previous post it was mentioned that he said he had the EPO delivered elsewhere than their home so Jeannie wouldn't find out he was using it. This would mean they were living together at the same time he was buying EPO therefore the self-use argument doesn't really work.

In any case, it is necessary to totally discard any rational thought to believe that Longo's husband and coach had being purchasing EPO over a period of years and that she had never used any despite world class performances inconsistant with her age.

PS I still haven't figured out the triple negative "Which would make it less unlikely that the EPO was not for Jeannie"

Aw, come on, you can figure it out. Translate it back into French, it might help ;):D

It's your intellectual exercise for the day.

I think you are right and that Ciprelli continued throughout in his role as Longo' trainer.

I remember standing a few feet away when Longo and Maria Canins mixed wheels and Longo shredded her derailler at the Olys. She was older than most of the field even back then (OK, so Canins was older than all of them). But man, that was almost 30 years ago. And she is still this fast? Arguably faster / better than she was in 1984 (and she was considered at the top of her profession THEN).

Longo's husband made '15 EPO purchases'

Recently reported on supersport !

http://www.supersport.com/cycling/international/news/120210/Longos_husband_made_15_EPO_purchases

"....Patrice Ciprelli, husband and coach of French cyclist Jeannie Longo, spent around 15 000 euros onpurchases of EPO since 2007, a source told AFP on Friday, fuelling a theory of "permanent doping", a claim denied by Ciprelli. ....."

Obviously he became seriously hooked on his recreational drug of choice.

Must have been quite tricky keeping his usage secret from Jeannie.

I see, keeping up with his tradition, the family solicitor continues to add the comical touch.

"....But Ciprelli's lawyer Pierre Albert hit back: "Patrice Ciprelli categorically denies this allegation from the investigators and considers that this information is misleading."

"The investigators counted the 'cancelled orders', that is to say the orders that were not accomplished. It's either dishonesty or incompetence. We are outraged!" added Albert. ....."

This is the same lawyer that comically suggested that Joe made up a series of fake emails and presented them to the Feds. The concept being that fake emails and a "fabricated" financial trail (how do you fake interbank transactions ! - when you find out - sell the method to the Mafia !) implicating Ciprelli would deflect criticism of himself. They then made threats that they were going to sue Joe. Just who does he think his audience is ? Children, aged 6 who are not allowed to go out or watch TV ? So now they are outraged that some of Ciprelli's EPO orders that he cancelled have been counted as orders ?

How very dare they !!!!

Yes the claim that I fabricated incriminating evidence against myself, which I then planted for the USGOVT to find and use against me - just to then be able to smear Ciprelli/Longo (!!!) - defies credulity. Perhaps they believe they are the center of the cycling world so all scandals must necessarily orbit around them.

These are just sad, pathetic little people. I just wish they would go away because they are so embarassing.

I wish they get hung out to dry for all to see what they were up to then they may leave with their tails between their legs but not before the truth of Longo's performances and career of doping is revealed for all to see.
