Cavendish does not need a train to win. I would leave it alone. All he needs is a good pilot fish like Renshaw !

I remember seeing him navigate finishes without even that at the start of his career. Robbie McEwen style: just following wheels, staying crafty, and jumping at the right time.

He's a cocky little f***er, but you've got to give him credit for that win.

That was pure Robbie McEwen.

Unreal. Took me by completey surprise. Thought Cavendish would hardly place top 3 in the sprints. But he has now won his 4th stage. I was completely and utterly wrong. That track prep was the best move, seems to have regained all his speed

British athletes always seem to find extra form during Olympic years.

I was expecting a Giro 2015 Boonen edition from Cav and he's dominating the sprints with relative ease

I'd written him off too.

I think it just goes to show what other factors come into play in sporting success. Sky and Quickstep didn't motivate him, or allow him to flourish.

Manchester United are the clearest example of this syndrome.

He's certainly the favorite for the last stage in Paris, Kittel looks shot and so does Griepel.

Although we may get a surprise from one of the younger guys still left...

Well, Greipel did try a lone breakaway on a mountain stage the other day ;)

But, yes, you are right. Kittel was well beaten. Cavendish just seems to be tactically more adept. Age and wisdom getting the better of youth and strength. It's good to see that experience counts for something.

Could he break the record for GT stage wins? I think he shoult target that

Should also set aside a year to get a stage win in each of the grand tours. Why not do the vuelta each year? It's not like Cav cares about Hamburg or Paris-Tours, so apart from this year where he's got the WC, he's got no late season goals. If he does the vuelta each year, he'll definitely beat Cipo's stage wins and has a chance at merckx's tally too
