Actually better for McNulty probably, he was gonna lose the sprint against Dujardin. Now he might be able to surprise them.

Each time I watch this race I think there's no hope for growing pro road racing in the U.S. Almost no spectators and the free stream took a long commercial break with about 4 KM to go just as the three groups were coming back together. How do you build interest from that?

ed. Not that I was hopeful before this, but it's confirmation

Total triumph.

What kind of punishment will McNulty receive from the alleged dictatorship after failing to win their victory number 573 this month alone? Being forced to work for Almeida or Del Toro for a whole day?

US tried and I guess succeeded to a degree, seeing 200 year old Sevilla off the front pushing a 65x 10 gear with single digit leg cadence was difficult to stomach.
Having worked in Baltimore, Cockeysville, Bethesda, Hyattsville, DC and Northern Virginia.. I enjoyed seeing some familiar stuff, also didn't enjoy seeing some familiar stuff! The squall that blew through could have been lots worse..water was draining well, not too many things fell over..
And as normally happens in American racing, a very recognized rider from an even more recognizable team won! Course design was good, and surprisingly with absolutely zero promotion from anyone decent number of people came out. As expected Outside-Velo didn't have the hundred Euros for a banner on Velo, Cycling News, Pez, Cycling Up-to-date.. It's better if fairy dust is followed for people, fans to find the race!
Seeing the race Leigon and Mike's Bikes should have got an invite.. Maybe Canel's.

They spent zero money on promoting the race. Race organization owes Potomac some money, singlehandedly did more to promote the race than anyone else!
And as if things could not be easier to compare.. The NFL last year dovetailed a promotion for their product by using Netflix and professional boxing!! This year, this week, NFL rolled out but yet another derivative of their product, had Chargers play the Chiefs on YouTube.... In Brazil.. And they have a full schedule of hybrid offerings.. Real games, regular season meaningful games played in markets, countries with no teams, countries often with no American football as part of the culture.
Although I am not a fan...Quinn Simmons, current national champion, guy wearing stars and stripes jersey, Simmons same rider who made multiple day spectacle at TDF, in stars and stripes jersey, same rider who got world wide coverage from creating but yet another spectacle by getting down on a knee and proposing to his girlfriend... Outside-Velo unable to even make causal mention of Simmons or his proposed participation.
Cycling News and UpToDate both have visible posting platforms like this.. And most certainly someone from Outside could have posted promotional information in some form on this forum without violating rules for spam, like Potomac did organically. I only followed the race because the last time it was held my neighbor got top ten and I waited to see if he would figure out a way to make the race, he didn't. There is also a few domestic racers that have some exposure on social media, I enjoy this, no reason these kids were not at the race, races in the past had some composite team entries.

Absolutely unimportant if riders like this win or lose, crash, get shelled.. Including this type of rider is a cross connection to national cycling community... Americans will click on race to see how the kid measures up.

I was reacting to the post below. I thought the 2 guys may have hopped on a tandem bike and gone duolo.
You might be on to something. Maybe in American races we should have half dozen tandem bikes starting.. Maybe NBA, NFL, MLB players as celebrity stokers ..couldn't hurt
