Btw - I went and read that LA/ Benson interview you [MJM] keep going on about - and I don't see why you are saying it was softball. What questions would you have asked to make it hardball??

Seriously?

OK, I'll play. :)

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/lance-armstrong-exclusive-interview

Here are a few questions that could've been thrown Lance's way (and if CN needs advice in the future for such "exclusive" interviews, perhaps they should turn to The Clinic. They're bound to get at least 12 good suggestions).

CN: Why did you purport to be engaging in a "interview" with Oprah where "there would be no holds barred, no conditions, and that this would be an open field," and yet when pressed about "the hospital incident" you refused to talk about it?

CN: Lance, when you publicly stated, "I told her to go wherever she wants, and I'll answer the questions directly, honestly and candidly," what did that mean? And why did you completely avoid answering the question about "the hospital incident"?

CN: Lance, how is possible that you don't remember whether or not you sued Emma O'Reilly. No, seriously, Lance, how could you not f'cking remember if you sued her or not?

But those are just off the top of my head, and I'm not a journalist.

Plenty are able to do it. Journalism. CN cant or wont.

Wonder where they lifted the blood doping series from?

You have to ask - is it laziness? incompetence? a basic lack of skills? Or is it something more wilful and malign. CN could do this but chooses not to because of vested financial interests and also because fundamentally they are too close the subject they are supposed to be covering.

There's still the fanboy in plenty of people and who wants to expose their own heroes as frauds?

I read pezcyclingnews for probing journalism.

"Last year I sat on sector 3, waiting for the lonely 3. I met my friend who was freezing because of the winds blowing from the north. The smell of panini's was teazing my stomach. I ate one.
This year I accused Wiggins of using performance enhancing drugs."

Personal friend, and no dummy.

Dave.

Wow, not only are you a plethora of information, but you also get around. And here I only thought dummies had cycling websites that didn't do hard hitting journalism. Silly me.

Does this mean we shouldn't discuss pezcyclingnews and their mensa staff, and only idiots like CN and other "media" should get dogpiled here?

I didn't. I just went there right after I posted. I go there daily, and the articles are interesting. That's where I got the pic of the hottie in the Mellow Johnnies T-shirt I posted here a year or two ago.

Dave seems to think he knows everything, but he shows he doesn't know anything about why I posted what I did. He used to be a perceptive guy on DPF, now he just runs around slinging feces around this forum.

Hein Verbruggen will be a studio guest on dutch channel NOS this afternoon (17:05) to talk about the dark era of cycling. This should be good.

Or very disappointing, as is usual with NOS.

Hein's dear friend Mart Smeets interviewing again? The dutch version of the Lance Oprah interview then.

well that was a total bore. Verbruggen not taking any responsibility and putting all responsibility on WADA as much as he could. he kinda sorta couldn't get out of admitting that taking the money for the "Sysmex machine" might not have been the best judgment call in hindsight.

**** never changes.

And yet people believe that today's winners of the races are clean!

That was a joke. Those must be the worst journalists I've every seen. They couldn't make a single thing stick.

Eurosport

Today on Eurosport McCrossan asked Magnus Backstedt what he thought of all the twitter talk about Sky thrashing the pants off everyone. That was a turn up !!

How refreshing for a commentator to actually venture into the world of reality and public opinion.

Questions like that are only asked to cast aspersions on the doubters - expecting mccrossan to ask a question like that with any more purpose than to reiterate sky's 'cleanness' is to assume he really cares about a clean sport.

The UK journos with very few exceptions did not cover themselves in glory over Armstrong - most were still spouting 500 test bollox until it was patently bl0ody obvious they had to accept he was a doper - to expect them to ask hard questions of the homegrown success story is pie in the sky (pardon any unintentional & strange pun)

Can't blame em'. That's what the haters said we would have after "let's start another thread about him" was brought down. Same windmills, same circle jerk, same old choir boys.

Still bitter for being an idiot for years huh? Forgive yourself dude. Forgive yourself.

Sorry its Rob Hatch not McCrossan commentating with Backstedt.

Hatch at least raised the issue...unlike Kelly, Harmon or dimwit Kirby. He just asked Backstedt about Nibali's comments about stopping power meter usage so at least he's asking questions on topic.
