I hope Mark comes back; but changing posters names and calling people “drunk tramps” does nothing to demonstrate you’re serious about what you’re posting.

That's a far cry from actually calling a member here a tramp. The "drunken" part? Yeah, I don't quite see that either. If anything, it would've been descriptive of said tramp, and still not directed another forum member.

But we must tread carefully around such issues. These are very sensitive matters.

It also is deriding homeless people whom are less fortunate than ourselves. It's a very disappointing statement to make.
Made even more disappointing by the fact that is was never stated as such.

Logic.

Not logic but what is implied. You can nitpick the post all you want but the general tone, the changing of posters names and the comment was enough.

It was clear on the totality of the posts that the general intent was to rile and bait. It was very clear. The post was reported in accordance with the rules and removed.

Pi55 can either be alcohol or urine, hence the "drunken" part - therefore pi55 covered = alcohol covered = you are so drunk you spilt your drink on your pants. Ebandit meant urine, which is far worse IMO.

A native English speaking person should be able to pick up on the imagery of how ebandit was painting / describing thehog via linking his posting style to a particular caricature of the detritus of society.

Back the logic off a bit and try some empathy.

For the record, I've always been opposed to altering forum names when done in an aggressive fashion.

But clearly, the implication to Mellow Vello was that ebandit had called you a drunken tramp. And that was not the case.

It was used a description of the posting style, not the person (thehog).

The imagery as described? Tasteless, but I've recovered.

Those tragically unfortunate individuals themselves? An entirely different conversation altogether, and not one for this thread.

If you use "**** trousered tramp shouting nonsense at strangers" to describe someones posting style, how is that not a personal attack?

So "you post like a ***" is not offensive to you?

While I appreciate all the energy this has generated, let's step back a step, shall we?

It is my opinion that Mellow Velo was being deliberately mislead to believe that ebandit had referred thehog as a "drunken tramp." It's a type of subtle misdirection that is often used around here. This was then folded into an argument that there was ever a legitimate discussion of the plight of the homeless taking place. There wasn't. But that topic was used as yet another deflection/redirection away from what was originally a fairly strait forward spat between two members of a cycling forum.

And really, you'll have to carry on from here without me on this topic, as I've no interest in trying to win the internets on this one.

This is the case.
I accepted that the post had been made and re-posted, verbatim.
Clearly, this was not the case.
Still, in it's accurate form, it remains a rather unpleasant metaphor.

On the other hand, misdirection is commonly employed around here, when one poster corners another for playing fast and loose with the truth.
It's another reason I post so infrequently around here.

TheHog out again
Is somebody keeping record? He certainly must have broken the strike out records of Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn. LOL.

I continue to be impressed with your knowledge of forum history. You must have been paying really close attention for some time, then all of a sudden decided to start posting every day. Your attention to detail from your silent era is remarkable.

TheHog has been banned 24 hours for falsely claiming that a mod edited his posting, when he did it himself. :D

To be fair though, it would appear that Ryo is running a close 2nd place.

I am surprised. Only 21? That´s not in the Dunn area, but more like in the area of seldom struck out Roid-Bonds. ;)

Amazing. Great find. Pure gold. :)

Edit: Nice crowning "21" you did there. LMAO. Once we know the final number, it should be retired and go directly to the cycnews HoF.

I remember that "earliest" one, and Im sure it wasn't his first ban. The member suspension thread was only created in late 2010, before that he had bans as well. I think there might have been a "free the hog" thread.

We can thank Hog for getting rid of some of the more annoying bots like Joachim.

I think banning hog upsets the clinic ecosystem though. Just look at it now.

We need hog to keep the bot population in check.
