Let's be realistic here, they ain't holding on to Widar for more than 2 years lmao. I think their only chance is his loyalty to his friends. They have his close friendgroup in the team too, and apart from Driesen they are also good enough to become pro (Eeman and Donie).

My theory is that a smaller budget team can get lucky and win a GT with a talented rider such as Widar, however after that you will find it hard to hold onto the rider.

Well, if you compare him with Seixas for example who is a year younger and also learning WT races then it's sort of night and day between them.
Yes that is true but not everyone develops the same. We should still not expect every teenager to make the leap towards pro level at the same pace.

I understand that with guys like Seixas and Brennan making so much of their first year it is easy to raise the bar for every teenager that becomes pro.

But until Torres crashed in Hungary his season had been decent in my opinion. He needs to raise his level to compete for GC top-10 but he was not that bad in races like Romandie. We should also not forget that Torres had a very steep year in terms of Development the year before.

Overall it is of course a bit of a disappointing year for him as he was eager to win Avenir this year. But he still has a very bright future if he develops well.

I can't find it on HBO Max at least! This was a killer. Odd that there is no broadcast as this defines the whole race.
Feels absurd that they are kicking off with 10km at 10% right out of the box which would be compelling viewing with riders strung out all over the mountain yet they are not going to broadcast it.

Would far rather watch the morning road stage than the ITT in the afternoon.
