There has never been corruption in the UCI.

Time-warp back to 1975. I'll bet that Pat would tell you differently if you poured him a pint of Guiness and asked him to tell you about the UCI.

He'd tell you it was a bunch of dirty, thieving, (mostly) French old men.

"All we can do and I've said it before is that the UCI can only work within the regulations. We don't have the liberty that journalists and bloggers have. We have to work within legal frameworks and the rules."

The Verbruggen letters would suggest quite the opposite.

Brilliant. Here, with this quote in boldface, and the Verbruggen-Landis correspondence spelled out clearly, a small CN article could really make Pat sweat.

I still don't see how that relates to credibility. Oh well.

Ok, Floyd tells a story including a piece about how he had to beg the UCI to do its job and that they sent him a letter saying they did not like his "tone" and if Floyd has no credibilty then its easy to dismiss it.

But it turns out that indeed it is true and there are copies of the letters Hein sent. Hein saying that he does not like the "tone" of a letter which (actually quite nicely) asked him to do his job, which took 3 years.

So I guess its shows that Floyd has credibility and Hein has none.

The UCI has no accountability to uphold ANY regulations. When WADA gets PO'd, they have to play their cards carefully, because they can't run to the IOC on a weekly basis. So very much (I'm sure) is slipping under the door. And quite openly. WADA must choose its battles. The UCI knows exactly how far they can cross the boundary, and that's what they spend most of their time measuring during the week.

It's like being in the US Army and being stationed in Korea. If you had ANY idea how much "stuff" happens (like people being killed) and doesn't make it into the media, you'd crap your pants. There's this line, and neither side really respects it. And each very carefully prods the other side for observations of what they're willing to tolerate. People get shot at OFTEN there. But "joe schmo" would never know this.

Well, angry as I am about Hein's ridiculous attitude of superiority, at least it reminded me of this, which I haven't looked at in awhile. Made my day.

Thanks for that Skiders, made my day to! :D

Anyone reading that still think Floyd is a Hick ?( cant be many left surely?)
That a saposed "elder statesman" of sport can commit such a stupid error as to engage in "sparing" via e mail with anyone , let alone Floyd, just ilustrates how removed from reality those at the top realy are.
Floyd shredded him in that exchange!.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/verbruggen-labels-landis-a-nuisance

How did I miss this one the first time around? This is beautiful!

What struck the most about this, is that it reads exactly like many of the exchanges around here! Now either Floyd and Hein are going to have to identify themselves in this forum, or we're going to have to guess who the most likely candidates are! :D

If you still can't find a reason to like Landis, at least a little bit, after reading this exchange, then to quote another wearer of the yellow jersey, "I feel sorry for you." :p

I mean, COME ON! Everybody around here wants to, would kill to, have an exchange with either Pat or Hein. Floyd does exactly that, and with the same irreverence that most here could only fantasize about doing! The beauty of it is, Floyd could probably instigate it at any time, any Hein wouldn't be able to resist. He would engage! Floyd has the sharpness of BotanyBay with the certainty of Dr Maserati and RaceRadio combined. Hein displays the willingness to engage of Flicker but with all the restraint of Cobblestoned. LOL!

My favorite lines
Floyd:
Mr. Verbruggen,

You certainly have lived longer and seen much more corruption than I, so I'll take what you say with that in mind. I'd also like to congratulate you on being the first person ever to have lived 69 years without ever having told a lie (being fundamentally dishonest with other people). For that you deserve a yellow jersey for honesty and I'd like to be the one to present it to you. I'll be glad to do so when you present yourself here, in the United States of America, to testify in front of the grand jury that is assembled to determine if you've ever lied.

Thanks again Floyd Landis Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category

Now I don't want to see anymore Floyd bashing around here...EVER! :D

Thanks Skidmark!

Thank you! Not sure how missed that one, but I am definitely going to add the phrase 'a yellow jersey for honesty' to my lexicon.
