Eric8-A said:It seems that there's somewhat of a drought concerning cyclists from Mexico. I know that there's several Mexican teams, but I don't hear much or anything about them. The only great Mexican rider to break onto the sport was Raul Alcala, and that was a long time ago.
As far as South America goes, I know that teams sign Colombians, Venezuelans, Brazilians. Both my parents are Mexican so I guess that's why I want to see riders from that country ride. I remember reading in Velonews magazing late last year, I think it was the manager from Geox (Footon-Servetto at the time I read it) that he wanted to sign a Mexican. The Chipotle Development team has a young Mexican riding for them.
What other good Mexican riders are out there?
It appears Raul Alcala is racing well at the Redlands stage race now! 58th place after the opening TT, 1:00 back and over 1:00 better than Alexi Grewal, along with other older pros (Tilford, Cruz):
