This kid was hard, really, really hard..won dozens of elite time trials. Racing hard 100%. A talent for sure. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a junior or young racer when this guy showed up..
RIP Michael.. it's hard to wrap your head around such a young vibrant young stud dropping so unexpectedly.. really sad.

From what I read he had a cardiac arrest which caused him to crash. Not sure if confirmed.

Tragic news. Rip Michael.

There is (or maybe it has been removed as I cant find it now) a short France 3 video on YouTube that shows a distant view (about 100m), one from behind, one from ahead, that shows the crash. Because of the distance, the quality was poor and it is not possible to determine if any other rider, moto, etc was involved. I suspect that other riders would have seen him leave the road and that investigators will seek their views in due course.

RIP Michael.

Here's the video. Crash occurs at about 0:57. Looks like the rider just spears into the embankment, having gone straight on in a right-hand (descending) curve...

That certainly makes it seem like the cardiac arrest happened before the crash ...

I found this today , a French fan left a little memorial at the site of his crash
