hrotha said:No, for Contador it was no excuse because it made it very unlikely that his story was actually the truth. I'd say everybody acknowledged that, if it had actually been contaminated meat, then he shouldn't have been suspended at all. Hence the general puzzlement over the original 1-year suspension.
Catwhoorg said:And obviously 5 days from the end of the Tour of Bejing to the Japan cup.
Its going to be a tough sell on contamination in China unless he stuck around a few days after.
Benotti69 said:UCI issued a warning about contamination in China so that excuse may not fly.
Netserk said:Saw this in your and another's post.
Contador was suspended, then cleared by the Spanish ADA (hence why he could race in the whole of 2011), before he was sanctioned by CAS in February '12.
So no 1-year ban at any time.
Catwhoorg said:That was a 'suggested' sanction, floated in public then there was an outcry including the Spanish PM.
I couldn't for the life of me imagine Cameron talking about JTL, or Tony Abbott commenting on Rogers before any sanction was formalised.
(Heck I can barely see them commenting after either)
Dazed and Confused said:Really? Cameron seems to no problem meddling with fraud cases involving celebrities such as Nigella Lawson.
skidmark said:Spanish ADA didn't rule on the case until the end of 2011 or something like that, right? I thought they ruled on it, it was appealed and heard rather quickly, and then CAS changed it to 2 years.
I can't remember off the top of my head if it was a 1-year ban that stripped previous results but allowed him to keep on riding, or if it was after San Luis. But it was a 1-year recommended ban by the Spanish ADA.
Well yeah. Puzzlement over the "recommended suspension" then.Netserk said:Yes it was recommended that it should've been 1 year, but he was never sanctioned 1 year at any time.

* Well not really. Still, I'm glad that Rogers finally got popped.

Just quoted 3 of the last page I agree with.Franklin said:Almost certainly he is a dirty rider, but Clenbuterol is a typical contamination positive. Chances it were his supplements (which is too bad for him as that still goes as a positive) or food are not unlikely. And no, I'm not naive, I simply know a bit about the(European) meat industry and Clen is not exactly unheard of. That said:
Karma is a *****.
Dear Wiggo said:October 15th - final stage of Tour of Beijing.
October 20th - Japan Cup.
I am guessing 3 days spent in Japan, pre-Japan Cup race, but could definitely be less. At least one day, surely?
If he did ingest clen-tainted meat in China, that's a bit of a time gap to still have it at the end of the race in Japan, I would have thought?
neineinei said:Rogers tested positive after the Tour of Beijing, Jonathan Breyne tested positive for clen two weeks later at the Tour of Taihu Lake. They will claim contaminated meat. Maybe it is is a problem that only they have tested positive, they should hope for more clen positives from China.
