thank you, I posted it for purpose. I can even agree with that "about time" , but the fact is that his previous team (Sky) has nothing to do with his positive test

No, but it's still going to be another dot to join for skeptical fans and there ought to be some questions raised. After all, a guy who we know was a client of the Freiburg Clinic and of Dr Ferrari while he was banned, and who has doped since leaving Team Sky, posted his best ever power numbers at Team Sky. Sky will need to find a way to explain that away.

No, for Contador it was no excuse because it made it very unlikely that his story was actually the truth. I'd say everybody acknowledged that, if it had actually been contaminated meat, then he shouldn't have been suspended at all. Hence the general puzzlement over the original 1-year suspension.

Saw this in your and another's post.

Contador was suspended, then cleared by the Spanish ADA (hence why he could race in the whole of 2011), before he was sanctioned by CAS in February '12.

So no 1-year ban at any time.

And obviously 5 days from the end of the Tour of Bejing to the Japan cup.

Its going to be a tough sell on contamination in China unless he stuck around a few days after.

UCI issued a warning about contamination in China so that excuse may not fly.

That was a 'suggested' sanction, floated in public then there was an outcry including the Spanish PM.

I couldn't for the life of me imagine Cameron talking about JTL, or Tony Abbott commenting on Rogers before any sanction was formalised.

(Heck I can barely see them commenting after either)

Spanish ADA didn't rule on the case until the end of 2011 or something like that, right? I thought they ruled on it, it was appealed and heard rather quickly, and then CAS changed it to 2 years.

I can't remember off the top of my head if it was a 1-year ban that stripped previous results but allowed him to keep on riding, or if it was after San Luis. But it was a 1-year recommended ban by the Spanish ADA.

Really? Cameron seems to no problem meddling with fraud cases involving celebrities such as Nigella Lawson.

The controversial part was backdating the ban. I mean he was busy winning races and getting paid. Pathetic sentencing.

Spanish ADA ruled on the case in very early 2011 after a lot of rumours (including the one about the one year ban). They cleared him. He went on to ride the Giro because WADA and UCI had appealed and there was uncertainty about whether his case at CAS would be before or after the Tour. The CAS hearing got pushed until after the Tour, and so he rode that as well. The CAS hearing finally took place in November 2011, after which they took their sweet time making anything public. As far as I remember, the two year ban (including a lot of time served and a lot of stripped results from '10 and '11) was announced in January of last year, and so he had sat out his ban just over six months later, in August 2012.

Almost certainly he is a dirty rider, but Clenbuterol is a typical contamination positive. Chances it were his supplements (which is too bad for him as that still goes as a positive) or food are not unlikely. And no, I'm not naive, I simply know a bit about the(European) meat industry and Clen is not exactly unheard of. That said:

Karma is a *****.

Just quoted 3 of the last page I agree with.

Really, clenbuterol? Uh uh, but sh!t, do try to prove you are innocent.

October 15th - final stage of Tour of Beijing.
October 20th - Japan Cup.

I am guessing 3 days spent in Japan, pre-Japan Cup race, but could definitely be less. At least one day, surely?

If he did ingest clen-tainted meat in China, that's a bit of a time gap to still have it at the end of the race in Japan, I would have thought?

Philip Nielsen was not sanctioned for his clen positive in Mexico, neither was Rudi van Houts There were no sanctions for the more than 100 soccer players who tested positive in the U17 World championship either.

Rogers tested positive after the Tour of Beijing, Jonathan Breyne tested positive for clen two weeks later at the Tour of Taihu Lake. They will claim contaminated meat. Maybe it is is a problem that only they have tested positive, they should hope for more clen positives from China.

Conor McGrane today said it normally clears in 2-3 days.

2 weeks later!? Sorry, what!? I realise things move slowly, but 2 weeks after being in China he gets popped for Clen and it's because he was in China.

Dang.

Contador should have said he was Chinese in a past life or something.
