Again not if you agreee with both thoughts. You do not agree with both thoughts. But if you do , which aint that farfetched a scenario , then he did not. I never believe pogacar allows the peloton back regardless if Pidcock sits his wheel
I agree Pidcock did what was best for him, maximised his chances to win.

And what does Pogacar believes his chances are against the peloton?
The thing is, cycling is not about the odds, nor about having no personality and being a robot in the race. Pidcock has an ego too, like all great champions, and doing absolutely nothing before the sprint just doesn’t match a class rider like him knowing that his odds were good! I think it's pretty simple to understand.

Same as Pidcock, more or less.
Look i can understand you not agreeing with both thoughts. Thats one thing. But surely if you take my perspective and entertain agreeing with both thoughts, you can see how Pidcock could have played it different without him jeopardising his second place.

Pidcock figures if he helps 50% chance - if he doesn't 1%

The most sensible.

Otherwise you are gambling, willing to lose it all. Paying a high price if it doesnt turn out well.

Pidcock was just not gonna take such a big risk.
Exactly, you just don't gamble with such an opportunity to win a monument. Never know when, and if, a new chance will come.

All the more reason to gamble against a proven stronger opponent. Though i do not see it as a gamble myself. I see why you see it as a gamble

The problem wasn't that he didn't have the legs for the sprint

Even if that is so, you are overlooking that with my tactics there is a chance that pogacar sprint would have dulled just a tad more. Enough maybe for him to be a couple of cm later/slower on the line.

Seems Pogacar rode himself against Del Toro wheel.

The thing is, your tactic doesn't work.

Mine at least has the potential to be proven right if there is ever a similar circumstance, whereas that ship has sailed for your tactics. Though not in san-remo. Pogacar will only want Roubaix as much as he wanted San remo yesterday.

Nope, your tactics has zero potential. Pidcock also want to win monuments.
