Ganna with an attack out of a small-ish group of favorites after the Poggio descent in which nobody is willing to chase. Philippsen catches them a few seconds later but MvdP cannot catch Ganna on the flat.

Late attack by someone not in the poll to win. If Ineos do the sensible thing and send Tarling and Sheffield too in addition to Ganna, it may even be their race to lose in that scenario, and my gut feeling is that the former will pull off a big upset.

Voted for Pedersen because he’s in great form and also because I never vote for the top favorites in these polls ;)

Now I've changed my vote 8 times, and that's the wonderful thing about this bike race.

However, I have hard times seeing Pedersen winning. If just tad of stalmate games, it's Philipsen over Pedersen any day, nomatter the latter's present shape.
And could be anything from MvDP to Ganna.

Due to no Cipressa openings like Fignon/Mottet, I'll bet the game is all set for Poggio, yet again, making it a bit of a lottery.

Without Pog and uae forcing a selection MVDP would struggle to win I reckon, but conversely with mvdp there I don't think Pog will get away solo. So MVDP is my pick if one must pick in the lottery that is MSR.

Would love to see the rainbows win it though.

Surprised to see no one vote for the defending champion yet, considering how well he climbed during the opening weekend.

I just did 🙂 He won last year and he climbs much better this year, so he should have a good chance of getting over Poggio as well as he did last year. Usually he should be the fastest sprinter in the group, unless Milan joins the party.

As long as the tandem MvdP and Philipsen is in this race, I see it as a very tough nut to crack for UAE and Pogi. Poggio just isn't hard enough to drop MvdP, his descending is decent but nowhere near the likes of MvdP and Pidcock, and Phliipsen is climbing better and better.

The interesting question also arise if Philipsen survives the Poggio, but with Milan and/or Kooij in their wheel. Which card would you play if you were DS of Alpecin (or Trek for that matter also being able to bet on two horses).
