After last year's one-off flat edition ahead of Milano-Sanremo, Milano-Torino returns to its fall slot one last time before the race permanently becomes a Sanremo preparation starting next year. That also probably means we'll be saying goodbye to Superga, at least as the finish location, enjoy it while it's here!

Startlist

The route

The start is in Magenta this year, with a loop through the Alpine foothills near Biella being the only change compared to the 2012-2019 editions. The climb to Zimone shouldn't impact the race in any way, though.

As per usual, it's all about the double ascent of Superga. The first one is as far as the pass, 600 metres before the summit, the second one is the whole thing, but really, we all know the drill at this point, right up to the big right-hander into the finish.

The finish is expected to be at 5pm, in much better weather than we've seen these past few days.

I'm with LS when it comes to this race, it would be cooler with a downhill finish in the city. With the uphill finish it kinda feels like a lesser Giro dell' Emilia.

Did it ever have the downhill finish into the city?

It's hilarious that both Contador and Demure won this race in the last 10 years, and that Diego Rosa and Giampaolo Caruso won recently.

The key to victory: find the wheel of Masnada and stay there

Yes, wasn't the Superga uphill finish only introduced in 2012?
Here is a short video of the 1994 edition won by Casagrande after a descent finish:
Edit: Here is a profile of the 2007 edition of the race, the uphill finish was only introduced when they brought it back in 2012.

Yes, Superga uphill finish is a recent thing, used to finish below, and in Motovelodromo as well.
But changed route multiple times during the years.

Yeah, it has changed multiple times and back in the day it was never as big of a deal as Emilia or even Tre Valli. Back then it also was an early spring race around the time that we now have Strade Bianche.

I have too many favorites for this race. Like ten people or so. I wouldn't underestimate an Australian babyface lol. I never do :D

Steve Urkel might win

Tbh I like it for what it is, but I think 2x Superga + descent finish would also be really good.
