Lifelong Cards fan my 2nd cousin was a catcher for them in the early 50's. Batted .302 one season

I'm as big a Tigers fan as any Brit can be and feel with JV and Fister on form we have a great shot. I did pick the Brewers to win the whole thing at the start of the season though and the Phillies are guna be real hard to beat.

The Phillies are the most complete team, with a lot of experience, and the best pitching in baseball. But that's no lock they will win it all.

The Tigers-Yankees match up is probably most interesting. Because Verlander and Fister have been unhittable for over a month. The Yankees have more tools, better relief pitching overall, so if they can get past the Tigers dual pitching threat, they will win. If not...

Both the Rangers and Rays are hot, so that should be fun.

Like to see the Brewers play well too. They've been lost it seems out there for so long.

Cool photo there Krebs.

I'm going to have a hard time watching any of it, as I'm a Braves fan, and...well...you know.

I will root for the Rays, as David Price is from my hometown! Go Rays, and get some fans in the seats!

But I think Milwaukee vs New York in the WS with Milwaukee getting it done.

I can't see them getting more than 1 of the 3 vs JV/Fister an
d with the exception of CC there starti
g pitching really isn't anything to be scared off Needless to say there hitting is exceptional but in a 5 game series with 2 verlander starts I give the Tigers the edge but I am a tad bias.

Who's your team alp?

I like the poll...nice visual.
As a lifelong Giants fan, I get to be an "interested spectator" this year. I'll pull for the D'Backs. Phillies look strong again, but looking strong didn't get them anything last year. So, for me, it's National League that holds my attention.

I was sure "More boring than watching paint dry" was going to be a choice.

Even though I gave up on baseball several years ago, my mantra is still "anybody but the Yankees."

Count me in as an "anyone but the Yankees" fans as well. I also like the Tigers probably as much as anyone in the playoffs.

I like what Tampa Bay has done with their organization, so I'll be cheering for them as well.

Any team from the NL is okay to me at this point. Like TB, I like what Arizona has done, so I guess I'll cheer for them.

I like the A's and Mariners. Giants and Padres too, Angels are okay, (being from the west coast).

As a kid growing up I loved watching the Phillies. The days of Schmidt, Luzinski, Carlton, Bowa, etc. I'll never forget the controversial 1977 NLCS loss to the Dodgers when the Phillies had LA down two runs and twice down to their last strike. That Phillie team really should have won it all. The pain was compounded by the heartbreaking loss to the Dodgers in the 1978 NLCS. Redemption in the 1980 WS win was sweet though.

Well I'm originally from Tampa and a Bucs fan, so it should come as no surprise that I'm a devoted Rays fan. I also have a lot of family outside Atlanta and lived near there for a few years myself, so I grew up watching the Braves. Fortunately, the Rays being an America league team and the Braves being the National League, I can cheer for both. Ultimately, it will always be the Rays though. Haven't really lost any sleep over the Braves collapse because of what the Rays did.

Go Rays!

AND THAT'S 1,000! :D

I don't like baseball, but I hate the Yankees more.

Rain delay in yankees/tigers game puts an interesting spin on things. I presume that Verlander and Sabathia both will not pitch the remainder of the game.

So who do Leyland and Girardi go to look for at least 4 innings of relief work?

My best case scenario is this for the Tigers: rick porcello comes in and pitches just well enough for the Tigers to squeeze by in g1. Fister handles Nova easily in g2, and Verlander who essentially has not pitched yet this post season comes in and closes the deal in g3 in front of the tiger faithful.

I guess if the tigers lose game 1, Verlander can always come and pitch game 2, and save Fister for game 3.

It will be interesting to see how both managers handle their respective situations.

I'm fairly certain that Porcello will pitch for the Tigers and suspect it will be Colon for Yankees. Rain delay is a bit or a bummer for Tigers altough CC was looking ok last night I fancy JV over anyone and feel more comftable with the thought of JV getting 2 possible full starts in the series. Fister should outpitch Nova but Scherzer could go either way

Even though I've never been a real fan, I've always subscibed to the above. ;)

I have been keeping an eye on things this season as there's been lots of baseball on ESPN America. My 'local' temas are the Nats and the O's, so I'm not invested with any of the remaining teams. My selections are in bold below and I reckon it'll be a surprise if the Phillies don't take it - but of course, surprises are always possible. :p

Yankees vs. Tigers
Rangers vs. Devil Rays
Phillies vs. Cardinals
Diamondbacks vs. Brewers
