well for starters iron man results and discussions don't belong in the road race section, nor in any actual section(bike racing related) on the forum to be honest being probably the general discussion one the place where it should be posted as it happens with the of any results and discussions of many other sports.

Then who are we kidding here? We all know where any lance armstrong thread will head as soon as we see the tittle so why would i let the thread stay on the road section when i would have to close it anyway in the near future and probably give a couple warnings?

if you read my post on the locked thread i also tried and apparently successfully incentive the OP into posting on an already existing thread about lance armstrong on the clinic instead of creating a new one.

so all in all, i would call this a pretty good day at the office

A few points.

First of all locked threads always leave a sour taste in my mouth, unless its something like the "who is acf and why should i listen to what he says", troll threads.
So many times i see valid discussions which i want to contribute to locked so you cant take it anywhere or even quote the points. Why do the good posts get closed with the bad ones? Why do discussions get closed like that?

Why not just move off topic posts or move the discussions to the right forum?
Especially since the reason given is that it was heading for the clinic.
If it was heading for the clinic why is it not heading for the clinic, but shot down in its tracks?

Its also strange to see a thread being locked on the basis that some people will eventually post enough off topic that it will end up in another subforum
Isn't that a very obvious fault of the forum.
Im surprised to see you declare victory for yourself so proudly, with the "good day at the office" finale, having basically conceded defeat to postings against the rules - rule 14, and not even the postings themselves but the mere threat of them.
This idea that a thread is predestined for the clinic. It sets the prescedent that if you dont like a thread just post clinic in it and eventually it will be shut down.

I mean what if some people just want to talk about Lance triathlon. We all know he is a doper and a ****, but 50% of the clinic is threads about that. Beloki doped too, yet there is a thread about his marathon in the general section and no one ever suggested it belonged in the clinic. Ok so Beloki probably wasnt doping for his marathon whereas lance is, but still, lots of the races we talk about in the pro section the riders are possibly doping and we keep those in the road section not in the clinic.

Thirdly since there is a Beloki, marathon thread in the general road cycling section for example where we talk about ex pros from this thing of ours who do marathon there is a prescedent for threads about ex riders in other sports, not being locked.

Which again brings in the question, why not simply tinkle with the thread or move it?

I appreciate the response. We're all on the same page about it being in road racing, even the OP saw that. You may (would) have had to move it to the clinic, but that doesn't mean that you would have had to close it. The existing thread was about Armstrong supposedly snubbing his daughter, if it is to be a catch-all for all discussion about his triathlon pursuits, ok so be it. Strange, but we've lived through stranger decisions. I prefer threads to be more specific, not dumping grounds. Hitch already captured my thoughts on the thread closure, I would rather mods not close threads on the mere premise of bad times to come, but allow the forum to act, then react accordingly.

Yes. Do not open another such thread.

Susan

Sorry for asking, but why is that thread any worse than 'Babes on bikes'?
I know it wasn't in the right sub-forum, but couldn't it just have been moved?

Can someone explain the lengths df suspensions for Technical Descent & BroDeal?
A week for going way off-topic?
Where did that come from, it's usually warning, 1 day and then a week. This seems a complete over reaction.

That's not even acknowledging that TD is BPC - And while I acknowledge that it is hard to detect and in particular contain them, what has been attempted didn't work 3 years ago and after burning through 200+ usernames isn't going to work or deter them now.

every other post brodeal made was about his obsession with bpc. sometimes enough is enough. i'm thankful for the rest from it.

If you need a good laugh,

Race Radio said:
Yup... and Frankie should have committed perjury as it was the right thing to do, Cortisone is useless for professional cyclist, Armstrong raised $200 million a year for cancer research, The reason for Armstrong sudden improvement was because of the development of his frontal lobe, various translations of French and Spanish articles that were invented and twisted to support his latest bait......on and on and on. He also invented many lies about myself and other posters. Luckily most have been deleted.

Many of these absurd claims would be prefaced with "I think we can all agree" If you were stupid enough to reply to his bait he would "defend" his bait with a wide variety of crazy logic and more lies. and if you did not respond he would send you dozens of PM's until you did.

The guy is the definition of a troll.

Scroll back through the history of these forums. Some of this stuff is priceless!:D

I just noticed that Katy in the keys was banned. I did not see anything she done that was insulting. All she was doing was taking up for Lance Armstrong. There are some insulting things in that thread where people are calling people’s posts ignorant and also calling people names. Nothing happens to them.

Why is the "Sockpuppet Speculation" thread allowed to exist? There is a method for this to be handled, PMing a moderator or reporting a post with your suspicions. If its ok to speculate on sockpuppets where is the line drawn? How about a thread speculating who's a domestic abuser or a racist, after all its just speculation, no harm there.

not being a freking mind reader, it would be nice to know what the "phrase' POLISH used is. it could be anything...wth? this isn't 3rd grade.

Some newbie kid (chewbutty or something like that) started responding to numerous posts in the LA-USDA thread with the same one phrase babble. It got old real fast, and appeared to be humorous only to the chewbutty guy. See the second mod warning from Susan around post 2041 in that thread.

I wasn't using it to be funny. I was using it to get responses like this from people like you. Success!
