As long as we can keep arguing the point in this thread I have no problem with that call.
So you'd agree that the first ban of Taxus was fair then?

I'm not conceding that at all - just because you tell someone to stop and they don't and you then apply a penalty doesn't mean that the warning in the first place was fair. It just means that you carried out the automatic process of banning a member for not heeding to the warning given whether or not that warning was fair.

It's quite simple. When a mod tells you to stop, you stop.

No.
It is not that simple.

We are asked to abide by either the rules or the spirit of the forum.
A mod should not be able to shout, threaten or request anyone to stop unless they have reason to do so.

The stop because I say so horsesht is an abusive of your privileges here and should STOP.

I think when a mod tells someone to stop, they should point to which rules is being broken, it would makes things much easier to understand.

The problem is they can't reference their internal agenda, unknown assumptions, fictitious on the spot new rule or points of view, which is why they don't.

I don't.

At the end of the day someone has to draw the line and it's up to the mods to do it.

They're the referees, they might not always be right but you have to do as they say.

I have one problem with warnings posted in threads and that's that a poster may not see it, other than that I'm fine with it.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the moderators know the rules themselves.

Which would be fine - but which line is being used?

Since you brought up referees (say soccer) - they play to an agreed amount of time, 45 minutes, and are allowed to add on regarding wasting.

But they would not be allowed pick up the ball after 30 minutes and end a game, regardless of the fact they say stop.
