Okay, I get it. The moderators are flexing their powers to regain control. Has to be done I guess? Anyway, I had two completely harmless posts, that were posted in good fun, deleted. I've seen this type of moderation come and go.

Some entities might consider your posting about the ravages that STDs have had on your (supposedly male) genitalia as not "good fun".

Those same entities could possibly have determined that the posts added nothing to a discussion or were possibly another weird posting that was a cry for help - that cry for help being "I am posting outrageous off topic garbage, please give me a week or two week ban so I can get on with my life".

I think this thread could benefit if you actually commented on the posts by Mr. Thought For Food that were deleted by the moderators.

Alas I am unable to comment on those posts, since I don't lurk here 24/7 I never saw the posts. I'm sure if chewie posted them they were to the point and a bit crude, and I would most likely have agreed with what he was saying, or at least been amused. We'll never know.

You say you explained it on Twitter, well you gave your version of it but really, banning someone for some small thing like that without giving a warning is hard to justify. In the end you spend time defending the action when a simple warning would have achieved the same result.

I responded in a post I wont post here since its been deleted, introducing nothing new, just telling martin he behaves the same way.

Martin complained I was attacking the man and not the poster.

But that's exactly what martin did isn't it?

The only difference is Martin's personal attack wasn't attacking just one poster but a larger group of people.

So is it ok to throw insults if you are throwing them at everyone instead of just one person?

Can anyone tell me why I was banned for 'bickering'? I received no warning, no cease and desist-type thing, I have no idea what I was doing or saying that constituted bickering which is about as ambiguous a phrase as possible, also suggesting what I was doing was rather banal.

Plus this is the internet: if you ban people for bickering you may as well pull the plug and ask the last one out to turn off the lights and lock to the door.

So I was banned with no warning, have received no communication as to why I was banned, so I have no idea what line I crossed and how to avoid doing it again. You call that moderating? It is very poor indeed. I at least expected a PM explaining the offense but not even that. I would hope to get a proper answer here but I won't hold my breath.

Note: a short term ban IS equivalent to a warning. Therefore, consider yurself warned.

However, not understanding WHY is a VERY big communication issue. So, we have 2 possible scenarios - either you TRULY do not understand, or you are merely CLAIMING to not understand. Obviously, such a false claim should get short shrift. But, an honest claim to not understanding should be addressed. However, the effort for gaining understanding will likely fall to YOU. You need to be direct, and clear, if you are being honest. And it would be better done in private. Things get mucked about when done in public, and there are too many confusing and misdirecting P.O.V. added to the convo. Seek to learn, and if the mods believe you to be honest in that desire, and they will help you. But I would not be surprised by massive skepticism on their part regarding the honesty of such a claim.

It would have died itself out later today...but no, some moderators have to prove they have power, so it was closed to prove it could be closed. Yes it was.

I have gone back and checked the entire exchange, and Netserk was NOT banned for the quite he gave above, certainly not a smiley. He felt obliged to TWICE interject in a personal way into a combative developing fight between others, making zero effort at contributing to discussion, or commentary on another post.

And no, none of them deserved yet another warning.... Especially In the sky thread...to play the ball not the man.
