Just wished to bump this so well written text and post something much more stupid but it makes me laugh.

This is the list of 49 dates in 2014 when there was not a single post on the Contadull thread. So for 316 days in 2014, this thread was active. Would you allow me to say it's some sort of collective madness.

How come that the Vanmarcke thread is not as active for example? That's beyond me.

You could just not open the thread as I tend to do. I agree with being sick of Contador but it won't change if you whine all over this thread. Just make the other riders more active by posting in their threads. Of course, I've considered doing this but when there's nothing to talk about I don't just post pictures of off season training and PR ****.

Just jumping headfirst into this Contador talk vs Vanmarcke talk discussion.
One question: For a comparrison between how much a GT rider is talked about and how much a classics rider is being talked about wouldn't it make more sense to compare Contador with someone like Boonen? (One of) the greatest GT riders of the day, vs (one of) the greatest classics riders of the day.

Closing threads seems really petty and borders on repugnant. Power trippin' or what?

Nobody is talking about closing threads, just about not clicking on a thread that doesn't interest them.

for 3 years................then new post...........now new thread started

................where is francois the postman when they are needed?

A mod closed a thread despite a new post adding new, contemporary content. So someone wishing to discuss new content had to add a new thread. The mod's decision was IMO short sighted and entirely unnecessary.

There is some debate about whether the english of some members is adequate for most members.

Still nice to add linguistic xenophobia and anti-intellectualism to your CV.

Merci. ça va?

English is still the one language we all - at least to some extend - speak. No offence to anyone but it would be kind of stupid to join an English-language forum if you don't speak English, whereas speak French is not required in anyway.
Also; why is not speaking French anti-intellectualism? Lots of people don't speak French.

Physician arise and heal thyself.

Considering your lack of sentence structure and basic grammar, and general incoherence you are the last person who ought to be lecturing anyone about language.

Nice to see that photo of you is still doing the rounds.

Now, if you don't mind I'm going be an iconoclast and have some schadenfreude at dopers and their fanboys. Ciao baby

Do you really have to speak French to know the meaning of this common expression?

Do we need a post mortem (oops, Latin!)

Since 1849 the epigram of which you complain (coined by Alphonse Karr) has been used in the English language as well as in French, meaning "the more it changes, the more it's the same thing", or usually translated as "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

In English one is also expected to recognise it in the shortened form "plus ça change."

This is an English language website but surely it is legitimate to use expressions that have been accepted into the language and usage for more than 150 years?

Silly to post this really - it's bound to annoy. However, "I can resist everything except temptation," as Oscar Wilde said.

Agreed, he's dipping his toe in the water again to start up the same routine. I choose to ignore him. His 'ugly' comments last time around were fairly gruesome and offensive.

You do have a certain je ne sais quoi.

Let's hope no one ever describes someone as riding with panache or élan
