Dear Moderators, I hope this is the right thread for complaints.

I am responsible for raising doubts on the Haribos eaten by the World Champion, Mr. Peter Sagan from Slovakia. My humble posts have been deleted by your colleague Mr. Irondan, who seems to be upset about the speculation. I was contacted in private, but did not get a reply to my defense. Therefore I turn to you to express the displeasure I encountered on the forum.

The apparent violations of the forum policy were threefold:
1. Fabrication of a story;
2. Statements outside the realm of common knowledge;
3. Omission of the clause that I limit myself to my personal opinion.

I contest all three.

I made it clear in plenty of replies in the thread that the logic derived from the images of Peter Sagan stuffing his mouth with gummy bears (i.e. that he was given a masking agent) is speculation. I did not "fabricate" this story by planting false evidence or handing Peter Sagan gummy bears only to then question his diet. I literally used the clause "to me seems like" to hedge my conclusions. I referred to literature on strategies to cheat which are common knowledge (the book by Willy Voet). I provided evidence in favour and against the theory, and was nuanced at all time.

In my opinion, I have been treated unfairly and was the victim of ridicule and a lack of respect. I am not a specialist in medicine, but I am a specialist in logic. I do not want to use authority arguments, but it is outright offensive to suppose other people are dumb.

I understand debates can get heated and threads need moderation. It is natural that discussions get personal when people are anonymous and emotionally involved. However, I find that the accusation of violations of the forum policy, notably in the clinic, carries very little weight. It would be appreciated if the moderator offered me excuses for his direct interventions in my posts.

This world needs more respect and imagination.

Best wishes

Tom
First of all, I don't get upset when I post comments or send out warnings, at least not in the public forum anyway. There's nothing that I wrote that would contradict this, if you "felt" something else that's not by my doing. My posting style has always been direct, and to the point.

Second of all, you clearly posted in violation of forum policy in which I sent you an official board warning. I rarely, if ever respond to board warning responses. That's something that none of the moderators do very much at all. If they do, it's because of exceptional circumstances. If there's more than a handful of members that have ever got a response from me because of a warning response over the years I'd be very surprised. We don't respond to warning responses because most of the time the responding message is out of anger and full of belittling, cursing, demanding requests, unreasonable behavior and disrespect for our position. With that said, mostly all of the warning responses sent to me go unread and ignored. These board warnings are sent out frequently, which would keep all the mods writing back and forth to people in perpetuum, without resolution. Therefore it's not a practice that mods and admins engage in. If you or anyone else had any idea how many comments that I read here in the forum and the website per day, warnings that I issue and bans that I implement you'd understand that there's nothing personal about anything that I do.

Thirdly, you have not been treated unfairly. I would do exactly the same thing and said the same thing to any other member in the forum under the same circumstances. As for being ridiculed, well, you know that was others and not me. Being ridiculed isn't something that moderators would deal with unless the ridicule crossed the line against forum rules. In that case you should report the offending comment. Honestly, I didn't even know who you were until today.

One more thing: I just read your response to the board warning and will give you a partial response. The original post that you were warned for did not allude to being any sort of opinion or satire or anything else. You mentioned that in the following posts that it's clear that it's just an opinion. That's fine but I don't operate that way. We read each post as to it's own merit. If you clear up something down-thread but are warned anyway it's because we didn't get past your post before we sent out a warning and the fact that each post is scrutinized for it's content, not for what it may say down-thread.

You were not the only person that was warned, and had comments deleted.

Cheers

Hi Mods,

The recent revelations about BC/Sky are obviously a huge talking point, but the discussions are split across several different threads in the clinic. Would it be possible to try and amalgamate them into a single, new thread? I realise that might be a lot of work. Even if it were just the posts from yesterday it would be a good starting point.

I would suggest creating one new thread, based on Wiggins/Brailsford/UKAD - put the posts into there.

That's probably a good idea, it's getting hard to follow the conversations.

Errr... should I/we go report every post from the very busy spammer in the Road: General section individually, or are you on it?
If that's not a bot - or multiple bots - you can call me 'Mads'. Actually, please don't call me that...

I reported a few, a large number got deleted but now a load more have appeared. I'm sure they're on it but it looks like a targeted thing that might be difficult to keep on top of.

You can restore deleted material now?! Did I miss something, or wasn't it with the new forum that everything deleted was gone *forever*?
Nothing changed. Simply, when we get rid of spam we don't delete it, we just move it to another place where our spam filter should use it to train itself. Or at least that was the idea.

I was banned on cyclingnews forum. May I know why exactly? All I did is that I answered one guy who wrote that Sagan is idiot, stupid morron, to calm down because this words are saying more about him than about Sagan. After my post deleted and I was banned. Without warning, Thnx for answer

PS: sorry for posting it here, but cant figure how to contact some moderator

Because 6 out of the 8 comments you posted were deleted for either being personal attacks of some sort or trolling.

P.S., You were banned from the comments section. This is the Cyclingnews forum, which you are not banned from. I can tell you that posting the same kind of comments here will get you banned in possibly less time than it took to get banned from the comments section. My advice to you is to read the Forum Rules before you post so you know exactly what you can and cannot post.

Who shall I contact if I want to remove this ban?
