That sounds sweet, in fact it sounds like it has nothing to do with the current subject and may go back to a time when you posted in the clinic - to assist you here was my original post where I actually ask the poster 2 questions, where they could have corrected, clarified or withdrawn what they said.

As for what happened while I was banned, you must have missed this thread called Windy Mountain - trolling can be a broad catchall term, but that thread alone has it all. It should be stored in a museum.

It has nothing to do with the time that I posted in the clinic. You'll recall that at that time I made no speculative arguments to the past other than to summarize collective posters' opinions. (In the interests of full disclosure though, we'll note that my only ban came then for calling you doddering. Ageist solidarity I suppose.)

I'm familiar with the thread, I'm familiar with your posts on the day (loosely speaking) that your ban appeared. Now, while, I'm too incapacitated to get out and surf, I do aim to catch the afternoon sun.

The most I'm willing to say about this is that you seem to be the only person who couldn't see your ban coming. Call that the tribal rule.

You want to read up: try Marshall McLuhan and update it with a cynicistic filter.

Oh I could see it alright.
There were several mentions of the consequences, but when I queried what these threats or warnings were for no-one was able to say. And I deliberately avoided posting in The Clinic - which is why the wonderful Rule 303 was used.

Then, if you could see it, stop arguing it.

I know that's hard for you

Yet others do the same exact thing and they never get a ban, perfection once again.
I agree. If we cannot do it perfect, we shouldn't do it at all....

This thread, it was pointing out some obvious trolling by a user.

To be fair, I feel like maybe I'm complaining to much, but the post would probably have earned any other user a ban, but nothing seems to have happened to the user in question.

Any answer?

Dr. Mas, with all respect, what you say is "not against any rule" is incorrect. You will note that being obtuse, and disrupting threads are part of usenet troll FAQ as actions typical of a "troll" or "trolling".

. . .

Now, as to rule 303. That was an attempt at humor when it was posted, although it was quite apropos. If you do not understand it in the context, again, a quick google will settle that for you. Any further complaining that it is not "in the rules" will be regarded as disingenuous.

And "disingenuousness" (or "lying" as the denser censor would have it), can lead to a ban on this forum.

Please refer to Hiero's post on the matter. There won't be further discussion of this, the question has been asked and answered. You've had your say about the entire series of incidents. Move on. We've listened and made our decision. Thank you.

I've spotted the post and your reply that were deleted by a mod. The first was completely irrelevant and off topic, and given the posters history I'm sure the mod had a word to him and is watching. Your reply was also deleted as it becomes redundant when the offending one was dealt with.

This happens frequently, in fact it's a pain in three neck trying to spot responses and quote's etc down the timeline which need either modification or deletion because of the fate of the original offending post. Sometimes up to a dozen subsequent comments have to be modified. It's why it's preferable to simply report offending posts and not reply.

Why was the windy mountain thread closed? There were a lot of unfinished discussions.

yeah i agree. Cmon mods give your minions some freedom to discuss what they want. Just use it as a catch all thread for anything wind related. Im sure that discussion will come up again in the future too.

And on that note I think this thread has run out of puff

The only "unfinished discussions" were going to be personal attacks.

And you know this because? Wish I had access to the crystal ball employed by some moderators.

Excuse my language, but that post of yours has pegged the BS meter at 100. Open the thread and, if necessary, moderate the thread per forum rules. IMO any other path indicates bias from certain mods.

That "crystal ball" would be the amount of complaints and subsequent deletions that cropped up as the arguments became circuitous.

Sure I'll reopen the thread, with a general warning proviso...hopefully Taaxus4a reads it upon his return

So if i ever want a thread closed i should just launch some personal attacks. Then the people who actually want to take part in the discussion wont be allowed to do so, and the people who want to see it closed get their wish.

Punishing the victims.

What a great policy:rolleyes:
